I think the Democratic nominee for president in 2028 should explicitly run on a platform of Elon Musk spending the remainder of his natural life in federal prison and total expropriation of his wealth.

Yeah I know but Bernie is not the Dems. You understand these milquetoast folks cannot fake, at all, that they are putting up a fight. Bernie put up a fight and he galvanized people as a result.
It doesn’t matter what would win in a presidential race if Dems keep rigging primaries - they actively root out progress in the primary and put a status quo person up every time. They are just going to run Kamala again and she literally drafted the bill violating your tech privacy as we speak.
Yeah, no they didn’t. They ran against Trump, himself, not billionaires. They like billionaires. They ran against his corruption, not the whole systemic corruption that they are also a part of, hence the fact that it’s even progressed this far.
You are an optimist if you believe that there will be an election that the fascists can lose in 2028.
They will probably fix that bug before the midterm election
I’d love that but do they have the credibility? Who the fuck would believe Democrats could jail anyone? It seems like liberals are known for protecting and excusing Republicans.
I want a hardcore anti-corruption candidate that openly says they are going after the looters and grifters shaking down the country. But I also realize that while the looters and grifter control the machinery, that's a very dangerous public position (like physical safety).
Once in office, offer a compromise whereby the president agrees to drop the lawfare if Congress sends him a bill that establishes DoJ as a truly independent agency insulated from political control. Maybe tack on a few other reforms to the demand. IDK.
I would support the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice having their own constitutional articles as separate branches from the executive.
Meaningful court reform is outlawing cash bail, eliminating three strikes laws, outlawing the death penalty, universal legal aid, functional LEAs, etc. Things that help the majority of people.
Yes, billionaires should be held accountable. That's an us problem. Those laws are on the books already.
All people in political office must live like the poorest in their district i.e. sleeping on the streets with minimum wage and cut off from their family. After serving terms they must never speak to their co workers again, never mention their time served, and must get the same job as before
As long as we're dreaming: Replace the Supreme Court with a judge from each federal court district. Either have them all argue the cases en banc, or draw 9 names out of a hat. Corrupting one judge is easy, if they can do 100, we don't have a rule of law.
I'll say you're "inciting violence", but well, the Justices REALLY considered that hypothetical acceptable.
So they were the ones that open the door to this for years to come.
I didn’t come up with this idea, but it’s my favorite I’ve heard:
We should massively expand and restructure the court. Promote every Court of Appeals Judge to Justice. SCOTUS cases are heard by 1 random Justice from each circuit, totaling to 13 Justices.
There may be a few more things out there, better ethics enforcement and oversight, maybe make a separate non-partisan agency independent of the courts to oversee that. But frankly, what you put forward addresses about 99% of it.
Impeach every justice trump nominated and thomas/alito/roberts if they're still around. Don't care that it's political, they're hacks and they got us here, nuke em.
I think that x10 is the actual illiberal move @tiredgenerally.bsky.social is talking about; but I bet Barrett and Kavanaugh are also there. Probably also an expansion to every single district and then wielding this new judiciary to disenfranchise the deep south/rural America.

judicial nominations must receive an up or down Senate vote within 60 days
What else do you have in mind?
He’d have total immunity, per John Roberts. Issue pardons to the relevant FBI agents or Navy Seals getting their hands dirty.
