When I was in a disaster zone after tropical storm Irene, Samaritans Putse showed up and did amazing work. They did work the government couldn’t or wouldn’t do. People appreciated it until they wanted you to pray on the Bible with them at the end of the work. It felt like extortion.

Genuine question from a non-American. Wouldn't that break a law of some sort? Like campaign gifts or something? Wouldn't they need to go through some sort of obscuring charity so they can't directly take credit?
