Safeguards against coercion need to be better than rules governing parliamentary behaviour.
A general observation since so many MPs are criminals: Badenoch hacking, All the Conservatives profiteering in a national emergency and destroying national assets much of which Lab perpetuate, Sunak Fraud etm

I'm really disappointed to see this, when I don't see the same passion arguing for people who have no options when they are in unbearable pain that could be treated but isn't being, and very much want to live. Freedom should include the freedom to flourish first.

You are absolutely right that this needs to go hand in hand with better funding for palliative care and hospices. But the principle is a humain one IMO. @sianberry.bsky.social trusting you to keep mentioning this and campaigning for better funding for ALL end of life services.

No, the better funding for humane care for *all* (not just people who are dying) and respect for disabled and chronically sick people needs to happen *before* we can consider this to be something remotely safe to legislate on.

I was talking about end of life care as that is the topic of the bill. I absolutely agree that better funding for ALl disabled and chronically ill people is an urgent priority. And would ideally like to see it before the bill is made law. But it doesn't stop me personally wanting to see it progress.

I'm hoping that the debate around the bill will make the debate around these issues more prominent and likely to be progressed and so create a win win situation. But I acknowledge this is an optimistic position.

Thank you so much for your support. I would be one of the people to benefit from this if it was law today - it would offer my family and I so much comfort. BTW I am disabled and I campaign for improvements in palliative care too - they seem to have become conflated which is strange

This is a terrible outcome and I am sincerely disappointed that Green MPs have backed the bill in its current form.

The scope of this bill will be enlarged by some future government - and not for the public good. In the meantime the elderly, disbaled, LT ill are being labelled as 'burdens' by media
