All of the above are great, so I chose two more unsung recordings. Late Mackerras is always wonderful and the Chung disc comes from a period where I though he would become a recording star, such was the quality of his music making. Such a pity he didn't get a chance with the Concertgebouw...

I’ve had Kubelik/BPO on vinyl most of my life, and it’s always seemed sufficient to me (!), but I would be interested to hear the Honeck recording.

Probably an underrated conductor. Whenever I listen to a broadcast with the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra (#WDR) and him , I am hearing the works anew, wether it be Beethoven, Bruckner or any other composer.
