Unless you consider an “article” about an AI function that already exists natively in spreadsheet software to be “news”.
I don’t think the capability of writing to Google Sheets “make me a chart” to actually make a chart has existed for decades. We can squabble over the subjective impact of this reporting, but it is an objectively big upgrade for Google’s AI. Verge’s job is to report good & the bad, factually.
if you just scroll down their feed for 5 seconds youll see they talk about all sorts of technology related news, none of it an endorsement of anything afaict
and it may not be important, but it is a thing that's happening. it's up to individual platforms to decide what qualifies for receiving an article, and i dont think youre qualified to tell them to delete their account bc they posted one article you dont care about

Aside from that, articles like this at best are intended to entrench AI further into the public zeitgeist and at worst are shill pieces.
