The next release has type checking for all major non-custom-element frameworks (already have Solid and React, the release will include Preact, Vue, Svelte, Angular, Potahtml, Lit, and Stencil, with type tests for all (need another?)). Basically write once, use everywhere including IDE intellisense.

Actually I don't have Salesforce experience, so not sure if custom elements are the solution, but mentioned mine as an alternative to Lightning.

I considered both options - for tech types the link and metadata would be fine but this is catered towards independent musicians so ideally they wouldn't be doing hella extra shit they aren't good at

appreciate the offer boss, I'll let you know! I'm gonna think this through and write down pros and cons of each to run by my advisor (the music manager who put me up to this) but I was suffering trying to build one a couple of hours ago so I'm for sure gonna need some level of brainstorm!

yah, taking a look at my little org, it's definitely on a flexipage and I think you'd be able to set the height x width dynamically if you used some formula fields, but that's just off the top of my head.

damnit, I'm gonna trick myself into doing my chapter on responsive layouts accidentally...

Interesting take, I was thinking that as a last case scenario but that would work! I wonder if that would allow for some layout magic and my concern with this strategy is that it wouldn't which is why I put it in the back of my mind at the start.

are the images stored on platform or is it external and you have URLs to them?

there are probably a few solutions, depending on the details... anywhere from a formula field to a screen flow to an LWC

along this line it would probably be best to have an upload option directly on the artist record as well - leading me towards a screen flow rather than a lwc for its simple nature?

that's up in the air still! looking for all the considerations before I make a decision. this app is intended for musicians so simplicity across the suite is gonna be key. essentially I want to store all of the main promo photos in an artist's press kit with an option to right click and save as

the potential exists to put it on an experience site but given the needs, the first iteration is going to be one app if it makes sense, otherwise separate apps for tours, shows, artists - this is only like 10% of the app though, much of this info will want to be available for instant reference.

I just created an app in a dev org to start and am starting data models for Artist (already done besides photos), Tour, and Show (show will have optional lookup to tour but Tours absolutely need to have shows)

So this would be like an indie label using Salesforce to provide a service for their artists? And allow their artists to self-serve their promo kit? (Just trying to zero in on the nature of the problem being solved so I give guidance)

For this iteration yes! The plan would be to eventually build the entire platform myself but for the purposes of data modeling and more quickly getting to a viable product, Salesforce would be a great way to start this.

Essentially my college advisor challenged me to this and has investors.

the app is intended to give independent musicians the same exact insight and tools that major labels have - the end user will initially be an independent musician looking for the same metrics that artist managers, tour managers, A&Rs have. way more musical than tech inclined for the initial batch.

I haven’t seen a demo in a while and it may be overkill for your use case, but I was impressed by Sharinpix. I had Jean-Michel Mougeolle, founder and Salesforce MVP, demo it to my user group a couple of years ago.

SharinPix is dope! Jean-Michel hooked it up last year - we used it at Mile High Dreamin - ideally I would want a self-made solution because third party integrations seem excessive if I am eventually deplatforming it from Salesforce.

this may be the plan because my org isn't populating the formula picture at all given the value of the photo url field
