Reminds me of the friendly otters floating in their backs, looking up at us, at the bow of our boat, when at anchor, sailing trip in B.C., Canada,.one summer. So cuddly and beautiful.
Adorable but river otters can get large and in packs they can be very dangerous . Multiple neighbours of mine up in central B.C. have lost dogs to the otters in our lake π³
The Soviets gave up in domestication of the otters to the detriment of humanity. Domesticated foxes are nice, semi domesticated moose are nice, but the masses could have had pet otters.
Careful now!
"Edal was ...a Cape otter from the Niger Delta region of West Africa. She could be lovable, but [Gavin] Maxwell recounts that although she had a strong bond with her owner she would fly into a rage at his guests and famously savaged her young keeper...so badly that he lost two fingers."
Those are male sea otters. Female sea otters are little cuties that protect their young like the amazing little mamas that they are. π₯Ή They've also been known to take in orphaned pups and care for them like their own.
Also, the one in the video is a river otter, so you're safe to still love them! β€οΈ
