“We need to prevent strip clubs from opening up near schools” is a common argument for zoning; but nobody can ever explain why a strip club near a school is actually a problem.
Like, if you’re worried about your kids seeing adult material, you should worry about their phone or tablet, not a bar!

I’ll play devils advocate: why on earth do people hate zoning so much? It’s what forces my neighbors to not run their business out of their garage, and doesn’t let strip clubs operate near schools.

Here to report the everyone is fine in Astoria, we're doing good
Plus schools have sports, clubs, etc. in the evenings (when a strip club would be in full swing… drunks, fights, etc.)
Kinda reminds me of the transit disorder debate. Normies just don’t wanna deal with seedy bullshit.
1. Suburbanites not used to driving in a city and boring through crosswalks,
2. People buying weed and hot boxing cars nearby. Just meant more impaired driving
do you have kids ?
you realize how bad this argument is, as something that will move people ?
or this is a joke I don't get ?
why don't you ask 100 random parents what they think and then try to convince, by logic or facts those who oppose strip clubs near schools (this will be at least 99 out of 100)
I mean, jfc, logic doesn't work here; to much salience
eg
autism is often diagnosed at the age you get some vaccines
If your child is diagnosed 4 months after a vax, no fact on earth will convince you vaccines are safe
