If you have zero education, but learn how to ask AI models the right questions , in many jobs you will be able to outperform someone with an advanced degree, but who is unwilling to use Large Language Models.

Just takes a smartphone, curiosity to experiment and a mindset to learn.

Yes, in my opinion it is. Better results than DDG and the lack of ads and sponsored results is an absolute joy well worth the subscription price.

To be honest, I wouldn't use Copilot for those sorts of prompts. I personally haven't found it to be that useful, except for simplistic code completions, generations, maybe coz I primarily use F#?

For the sort of items you mentioned, I'd instead reach for ChatGPT web search, which gives:

To be 100% accurate, I asked "how can I make internal classes visible to another assembly in .net" and it told me about the InternalsVisibleTo attribute from 10 years ago.

Then I asked if I could do it in the csproj file and it told me about applying assembly level attributes in csproj files.

I've been using AI to help me write code here and there, and it does an okay job, but I know when it makes a mistake, I know what it /should/ do.

The idea that a complete novice could use it to build reliable software is absolute nonsense.

I used it reasonably regularly too but it’s more for menial tasks like “sort this long list of XML nodes by this property” or “convert this JSON object into a C# class”.

Stuff that I could do manually but it’s just time-consuming.

I literally just did a copilot query asking it to sort a large json object with nested collections by the id property in each object.

It produced a Python script that did the exact job for me. I don’t know Python so I’m happy to let it take the wheel.

I don't see how, unless the AI starts actually running the code and correcting itself, that quality of answer goes any other place than downhill rapidly.

Loads of people will be writing blog posts using AI echoing this rubbish which AI will then train on and we just have information entropy.

It's given me net framework code on multiple occasions. What I usually do is tell it off, then it comes around. Best one was where I asked it about dotnet 9 (late last year) and it gave me an answer then admitted it was a guess "based in dotnet 6". It's still mostly hype #choochoo
