What about older folks, perhaps not very well off that relay on smaller currency? If you remove the smaller currencies IE pennies it makes you poorer. This just shows how stupid Trump is!
Which is fine but every point of sale system has to now be programmed to either round up to the nearest multiple of 5 or down the same when paying cash. And people have to be educated and accept that they have to pay those extra two or three cents and not argue with the cashier.
Is there really no cheaper way to make a penny? Punch a hole in it. Make it smaller. Wavy edge. Change the material. Idk. And how much of an issue is it?
Trump saving money is still ultimately so he can keep extending the 2017 tax cuts though.
might unironically be a better use of money lol supposedly nowadays it costs more to Produce pennies than they're actually worth in our economy. Removing the penny isn't the answer though imo, they should address this rampant out of control inflation (which is largely caused by unregulated spending)
Raygun permanently f¥cked the economy in favor of the rich at the expense of the working class and the poor, and permanently f¥cked our democracy by destroying the Fairness Doctrine to allow FOX “News” and AM talk radio to brainwash the masses at the expense of truth.
My point was more about thinking big and not chasing petty wins like Trump is doing. That’s not what leaders do. Trump is too small minded to be in the White House
And my point was that Raygun did more lasting harm than good. When was the last time any Democratic POTUS did as much damage to the country as Repube presidents? Never.
Trump has been collecting pennies since he was 8 years old. Now he's going to reduce the supply, jack up demand and cash in right before the great penny crash. Wake up people, it's happening right in front of you!
On the current monetary system I don't think we can do that without either counting by fives, rounding off numbers to the nearest five cents, or produce new money based on the metric system.
Trump is a psychopath and a pathological liar. The real reason is he despises both Lincoln and the Union Shield that are on the penny. Look for Trump to insist the Lincoln Memorial should be changed to the Trump Living Monument with a statue of Trump replacing Lincoln in the chair.
You’re watching the game with grandpa. His team is losing bigley and he starts to have a tantrum; goes on a rant about pennies. You tell him “Gramps, let’s have some chicken soup and go down for a nap, okay?”
Good grief, let 🍊💩 have a win with the penny issue. Poor old geezer has lost the plot.
This should have been done by Congress decades ago. I think a Penny costs 3 cents to make by now. we could use that 3% copper for more important things now.
Possible outcomes:
1.People may hoard pennies.
2.Consumers may be shortchanged as merchants round up.
3.The price of zinc may be affected (primary medal in pennies)
4. This may be a moot issue as we move towards a cashless system.

Difference in reasonable intellectuals, they can agree when it makes sense, not MAGA - cult can't think independently.

JFK lead the US to the moon
Reagan helped restore our economy
Trump? He worries about pennies after running the national debt up $8 Trillion last term
He only cares about more revenue.
Coins are recycled after destroyed. Eliminate commercial trump coins too.
Let the trump service stay for free at his hotels—will save more money.
Someone should tell Trump this was Canada's idea, 13 years ago. He's just following Canada.
They’d put his head on them.
Wasn’t it tried before
and had too much push back?

So much for great leadership, huh?
