Star Fox Assault is definitely one of those games that benefits from repeated playthroughs which is just kinda the basis of all Star Fox games I'm learning. The spectacle is amazing, but good god it can be punishing at points whether with checkpoints or mashing the shoot button. - ThreadSky

The controls on the ground levels are just so unintuitive, that's my biggest complaint with assault.

If Nintendo remastered the older games and gave us twinstick controls id love the game so much more.

The space levels, the story, the visuals, love em so much.

There's an option in the game for regular twinstick controls on the ground. I still remember pacing issues with those missions, but the dual stick controls worked great

If I recall, the game was pretty linear. No branching paths to make future playthroughs feel fresh. Other than the audio/visuals, the game felt like a big step down from the N64 game.

And that fully orchestrated music is sooooooo good!

Yeah, it's very linear. It has multiple difficulties with the special flags in different spots in each. That was how they handled the replayability...get every flag on each difficulty as well as trying to gold medal every level on every difficulty and you unlock everything

The ship stages are as fun as ever, but the missions on the ground are really boring and repetitive with their objetives. They also take away from the ship stages, because now most of those are in space, while the planet missions are on the ground, it kills the visual variety of the fun parts

It was fun seeing you play through the game for the first time, even during the frustrating moments. Star Fox is an underrated series, and Assault in particular feels like the most underrated installment in the series. Glad there are at least some people out there who love it.

We just released our Starfox episode - it’s such a gem of a series. Been having a blast replaying it too! Assault is underrated, but 64 still king.

I wouldn’t hate another Star Fox game Adventure. I know it was originally not a Star Fox game. But I genuinely enjoyed it. My biggest gripe is that the flying levels definitely felt tacked on as an afterthought.

I wish that Assault fired multiple blasts per button press like 64. I love the game, but it is rough on my hands.
