I only have one bone in my wrist, thus severely limiting my wrist motion, which almost made me have to give up pc gaming cause it just started hurting waaaay too much to use a normal mouse, vertical mice saved me soo much, and I was only 19ish when I switched, cant recommend them more
I strongly recommend wrist strength training.
With both my keyboard (Moonlander) and mouse set as vertical as possible, and despite trying custom-carved wrist supports, the only thing that provided almost immediate pain relief was daily exercise with a hand grip and Powerball.
I started developing wrist issues last year and got myself a vertical. While I still have to admit that it feels odd at times, it has certainly helped my wrist a lot.
I started to develop wrist issues my 6th year in software dev (and 1st year in game dev, I wonder which one was the culprit…) and spent like a month trying every type of mouse to see what worked for me and ultimately landed on this big-ass trackball mouse that saved me big time.
Yess, got me one of these big boys too. I split my time on it with a traditional mouse depending on what I'm doing, I find the variety of movements really helps. I'd love to consider adding a vertical into the mix.
I had that trackball mouse - I liked it a lot. Takes some getting used to, but it's great. I've since moved to a Logitech Ergo thumb-based Trackball; also very nice to use!
As someone with big hands it feels real hard to find one designed for people with 5 fingers. Feels like some of these would be perfect if i just didnt have a pinky.
takes a minute to get used to, but I got rid of a ton of wrist and elbow pain by swapping over. idk that it'd work in like high level CSGO or whatever but I've had no trouble gaming on it either.

(Unironically though keeping your hands and wrists vertical is crucial to your health so great advice!)
Does gaming feel more natural as well?
