The idea that Trump wants to tackle the federal debt is laughable. After all, he has endorsed abolishing the limit on federal debt altogether. What Trump really wants is more tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and large corporations.

Personally, I think the debt ceiling has always been a bad idea. Primarily it serves as a negotiating mechanic and little more. The national debt, while expensive. Does serve as a kind of deterrence to Chinese military aggression toward the united states. They have a vested interest in
the United States continuing to do well. The more complicated these interdependencies become. The less likely we are to see open warfare between members of the security council. And that can only be a good thing in my book.
However, there is still the very real element of social destabilization
He just proved it again by demanding they raise the debt ceiling. We, educated Dems, know this.
Don the Con and his oligarchs are trying to pull off the greatest American Heist in history. They are planning to steal trillions $$$. Crypto and bogus Govt contracts are there avenues to succeed.
I am pretty sure his first term is one of the primary reasons it is so bad. His 4 years he over doubled the entire debt that took us over 200 years to build to.
He doesn't want to abolish the debt limit. He wants to suspend it until after his term. Then republicans can have it back to go after democrats. Debt limits matter for democrats not republicans.
And the 4 TRILLION Dollar question is, WHY? WHAT FUCKING PURPOSE DOES IT SERVE TO GIVE PEOPLE WHO ALREADY CAN'T COUNT THE MONEY THEY HAVE, IN A NORMAL HUMAN LIFETIME MORE MONEY? JUST TO TRY TO DESTROY THE US? Someone should shove a 12 gauge up their asses. They are declaring war on WE THE PEOPLE.
He doesn’t care what happens NEXT. He only wants benefit NOW. This government does not care about the next 4 years….they will have the place completely stripped and sacked by then. Whatever gets them the quickest path to total destruction.
Yep. The billionaires own him. They bought the election for him, now he owes them favorable treatement, appointments they are in no way qualified for, subsidies, and huge tax breaks. At the top of the shit pile is President Musk.
Trump did not pay attention in school. His Wharton degree was bought and paid for by his father. He is corrupt, a failed businessman and once failed president. Thanks to SCOTUS, the morons of MAGA, other voters that did not care and an emasculated media, he will ruin the country.
What laughable is he wants to get rid of the debt ceiling so he can spend what ever he wants which is why the bill didn’t pass! Now the GOP is hurrying up to get a bill done so they can go home, they have a bill that’s done all they have to do is vote on it
It seems to no longer matter to anyone what the guy who won the election wants, because the guy who owns him can tweet from his phone and most of the Republican Party will immediately do the bidding of the richest man in the world, so the Presidency is over before it starts.
Simply bring spending down to a 3% baseline growth since 2019. That eliminates the current spending deficit. That in turn will help “tackle” overall federal debt
Yeah, that’s true but like we all know, the people that voted for Donald Trump none of them read anything. I doubt they know what a library is yet they’re banning books..

Donald Trump Built a National Debt So Big (Even Before the Pandemic) That It’ll Weigh Down the Economy for Years

Season 11. Ep 17 (2000)
coupled with cutting taxes in 1/2 on the wealthy and corporations
increases the deficit
so, do away with the debt ceiling
that is the plan
So far today, I've called--
Speaker Mike Johnson,
Rep Steve Scalise
Sen John Thune (why not?)
And told them Trump isn't in office, Elon Musk speaks for no one, and to pass the negotiated CR.
I hope I made them all happier.
It is what I could do so I did it.
