Right? Like it should be illegal. Musk is getting contracts and his employees are being contracted. Zero enforcement against profiting from a government position. Trump of course is being paid too. I wonder who’s making more right now? Musk contracts or Trump bitcoin/bribes/lawsuit settlements
If you're a horse breeder, you could really improve your business by getting close to trump and convincing him to ban cars. I'm serious, it could absolutely work.
Every time I read his latest move, I think, “No, this—THIS is the dumbest idea imaginable. I didn’t think he could top the last one, but by George he did it—he found a way.”
This is pure idiocy. It probably costed $150M to build this out, and they are probably only going to save $1M/year tops in electricity fees to shut it all down. What an absolute waste. Not surprising, but very poor decision making here from the anti-science trump regime.
And that's if they don't charge the employees for using it.
But Trump's hated electric-everything unless it's coal- or oil-powered, because that's who gave him big money early on,
and climate change denial is important to them.
This would cost money too if they are going to actually tear these down. Taxpayer Money spent for absolutely no reason other than pettiness & trying to force ppl to use Tesla chargers. Thats waste.
We really don’t want or need an energy transition when we’re an accelerationist death cult beholden to fossil fuel interests. It just slows us down. Bonus - own the libs!
If it is to make America “great,” then it’s a moronic, wasteful, and inefficient idea. If it’s to institute Tesla only from a single regime, then I see it as part of that strategy. Let’s wake up, drop the pretense, and call it as it is.
Most of these ports were newly installed in the last 4 years and Trump is removing them
A. because Biden had them installed, and
B. they aren't Tesla chargers
Removing these is a total waste of taxpayer dollars already spent by a petty, vindictive little man.
Their actions indicate they’re full steam ahead with Tesla. As for cost, this will cost one-hundred fold than what it would to leave them alone. As you said, they were already built. They are out to destroy for sure.
Sorry I guess what I meant was it’s not very pro-Tesla-driver.
Which in normal circumstances would mean it’s not very pro-Tesla or pro-TSLA either. But in this case, as you say, there are other ways of funnelling money to Tesla and Musk than simply making consumers happy
And if he and Elon care about wasteful spending, well bricking something your already paid for, that costs less to operate then other options….. well fuck them both and hope they [censored] soon
I can’t like this. I wish there was a “read” or “acknowledged” icon bc I just can’t bring myself to like some posts bc the subject is anti-American values.
That’s factually correct, but/and Tesla would not exist without $2.5 billion in state and local grants, mostly from CA, to say nothing of EV tax incentives/ subsidies.
Felon47 wants all government employees back to the office. He wants to make your work life miserable and shutting off the chargers is another way to piss you off when you go to work.
Why? What’s the point? The EV owners pay for the charges. This is as stupid as Reagan removing Jimmy Carter’s solar panels. What a petulant… “Hijo de Putin.”
True, but couldn't Tesla then restrict their charger access to only Teslas again? And hell, then they'd sue to revoke the ability of others to use the NACS charger standard. Then they'd funnel any legal challenges through their pet federal court in Texas to get a favorable ruling.
Assuming there's much of an EV market here anymore - $7500 tax credit going away or gone, and a bootlicker Congressman is proposing a $1000 tax on all new ones sold. I'm positive they won't stop there either.
Musk could certainly change his mind, of course. But I’m guessing that Tesla has made legal agreements with those automakers, so it wouldn’t be that easy.
Hopefully. But if he's got Trump's federal mafia on his side, anyone who opposes him could find themselves up against all kinds of stupid "investigations."
I think that’s naive. Elon is actively involved in shaping the policy of the Trump admin and it almost universally ends up benefiting Elon’s companies at the expense of his competitors. I do not think this is at all a coincidence. The corruption is extremely blatant.
Oh, I agree with this in general, except that I just don’t think turning off 8k chargers at govt locations helps Elon all that much. Elon has bigger fish to fry.
This is just another case of Trump being petty and vindictive. It’s never 3D chess, to invoke the ludicrous MAGA trope.
Right. Or if we'd still have real, honest elections. The way they're going, they could be thinking they'd no longer need votes to stay in power (as Trump himself said during the campaign).
For a regime that prides itself on cost cutting, they're doing a surprising amount of things that only cost money. Those things were already there. Sigh.
They don’t care about cost cutting at all and never have. They care about destroying things they hate, full stop. Don’t give them credit for good intentions. They don’t have any.
Well, ironically there is the fiscal hawk faction in the House that does care and is shaping up to be a major pain in the behind for the regime itself, that as you correctly point out doesn't care less.
But my original post was meant very much snarky, so apologies if it came across as crediting.
Just remember, the cruelty is the point. In the scale of raping a prom queen in the dressing room as a 5, and "sending USAID thru a wood chipper" maybe this is a 0.4. but remember, the cruelty is the point.

Someone please give the 🍊💩🤡 some all-metal wire cutters. Geezits!!!
Only possible rationale
Total self centered narcissistic bullshit from the idiot
One golf trip costs to the taxpayer for him covers all the expenses for these - and what’s he at now? 10 golf trips in one month of his second term?
It’s pure spite.
But Trump's hated electric-everything unless it's coal- or oil-powered, because that's who gave him big money early on,

Free mass transit for all
Trump voters are too stupid to exist.

Jerk offs
It's not like Trump pays taxes.

Elon gonna realize that yes, the leopards will even eat his face
Eliminate Tesla’s competition.
And it’s not cost saving since the majority of the cost is already sunk.
Which in normal circumstances would mean it’s not very pro-Tesla or pro-TSLA either. But in this case, as you say, there are other ways of funnelling money to Tesla and Musk than simply making consumers happy
Fucking emails
Fucking laptop etc...
Absolute corruption.
Fuck this shit.
Activate the MK Ultra
This is yet another crime, but at this point we're just tossing each new crime on top of the pile with an indifferent shrug.

It’s so sick. He is so sick.

That said: I totally feel you. The heart does seem pretty disingenuous some days...
I wouldn't doubt that after the vehicle sales, later this year Government agencies will start to purchase EVs from a certain California EV company.
https://subsidytracker.goodjobsfirst.org/parent/tesla-inc
... They are definitely going to just spend a ton of money replacing them with Tesla's proprietary chargers.
isn't this going to be harder for Tesla owners to find places to charge???

Trump: "Hold my beer".
So efficient 🙃
The epitome
of a conflict of interest
You could argue not to build more, and that would be more rational, at least. But turning off installed operating chargers is just vindictive.
I really think it’s not “help Elon” but more “undo Biden accomplishments and screw the libs with their EV nonsense that I don’t like.”
This is just another case of Trump being petty and vindictive. It’s never 3D chess, to invoke the ludicrous MAGA trope.
