Imagine a revolutionary method of transport which offers so many benefits but where the appropriate level of safety and vehicle maintenance is decided by Californian tech investors who are seeking rapid financial growth.

My experience is that Lime bikes are heavier and more awkward than Forest....
Lime/Forest virtual docks are a parking order, a lick of paint, and a software update to a GIS. Very frustrating that so much of Outer London are dragging their feet on this, we have fewer buses and bigger gaps to stations.
Fines are just charges, I'd prefer something with more teeth.
If I walk past one that's parked stupidly, I will tend to move it as I know the next person might not be able to.
As for parking, there's plenty of space by the kerbside, just needs political will to use it for something other than storing private cars.
That reads as though residents are blaming the bikes, not the idiots who dump them.
Boroughs/TfL are struggling to sort it out. Dockless hire bikes can be a public benefit for health and congestion/emissions reduction.
But business model needs public purpose at heart so it’s inclusive w/o harming well-being of older and disabled people.
(Genuine question - could go either way)

I don't think you meant it that way, but while everyone is literally a resident, it's a bigger part of identity for some demographics than others.
Admittedly this annoying to have to do and likely not possible for many people with impaired vision / mobility.
(I'm not disputing the anti-socialness of this behaviour, by the way - but the 'resident reflex' is 'get rid of the problem', not 'they have a right to enjoy the space too, lets facilitate that in a less problematic way').
So many bikes were damaged, stolen and dumped in random places they suspended numerous docking bays. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce38v8ygw1do
We wondered if any had been dumped in the canal.
You don't realise how heavy these bikes are compared to the BMX you had, so I can definitely see how they can cause serious injuries if not maintained properly.
They are a hazard to pedestrians too.
