This didn’t need to be true. It’s like some at Paramount refuse to look at why Picard S3 and SNW resonate with audiences. You can’t build a new house without a foundation.

DS9 was derivative but it was built on what came before and it took off.

I think that Lower Decks and Prodigy are both really good. Especially Prodigy, which gets the ethos of Star Trek spot on while also moving the story forward in an original way.

I watched it, it was okay. I wasn’t expecting anything “typically” Star Trek. Section 31 is supposed to be a black ops organization that’s not very well known. In that regard, it makes sense to make a spy film. I feel like there are too many characters here though.

Star Trek, the property that's entire core tenet was optimism about the future of humanity, goes grim dark with a show starring Space Hitler who never paid for her crimes including cannibalism. Discovery praising Musk was extremely appropriate.

I love Star Trek. New and old. This film is the first Star Trek entry that I might not make it all the way through if it's as bad as the trailer and these reviews suggest. Really unfortunate given the talented cast.

The best modern Trek has Klutzman AWAY from the Helm.

Picard (Season 3) had Terry Matalas.

Lower Decks had Mike McMahan.

Even Strange New Worlds has Jenny Lumet reining Alex & Akiva's BAD ideas!

OMG I couldn't even watch the whole movie. I stopped watching after the spaceship was destroyed and all of Section31 made it out with our a scratch or hint of trama. The acting, writing, pacing, directing were all so incredibly bad. And what was with that voice over narration!

I was VERY skeptical at first and even started once and gave up a couple episodes in. My teenager talked me into watching it with them. Absolutely no regrets. It's worth your time.

Lower Decks is a love letter to Trek, written and performed by people who absolutely love the franchise. It's funny while honoring where it came from, brought in fabulous cameos, and even addresses some plots that were never resolved. Plus, there's Moopsy.

Sad to read this. I'd appropriately lowered my expectations, hoping at the least for a fun Trek adjacent romp. The problem mainly sounds like it's around the writing & conception. A missed opportunity to grapple with the moral quandary of S31 itself.
