Trump has, in less than 100 days, ended America's century of global dominance. All of the economic and political privileges that Americans have taken for granted their entire lives are going to vanish.

I hope we have running water. I live a half mile from a river but I don't know how potable the water will be. Or whether people will have shooting wars over access
I think some of the damage can be mitigated if the US acts quickly AND puts in stronger safeguards to stop another Trump in future. Until that point, and I'm not sure the Republicans are there yet, I doubt many other counties are going to be willing to rely on the US to hold up agreements they make.
Every day this goes on, the more the rest of the world will put in contingency plans, which will diminish the position the US can eventually return to. And certainly a lot of the damage is already done.
Yep, heβs doing permanent, or at least long term damage. And no one will trust in any agreement with the U.S. cuz half our electorate are fools and could fall for such nonsense again.
The unfortunate fact is that poor Americans don't have to leave the US to live in a 3rd world country. And now difficulties that were once unevenly distributed will now be shared with more people.
What Elon Musk and Donald Trump are doing to the United States is a betrayal of the highest order. It's a war. The intentional destruction of an entire nation. The total demolition of our institutions and its essential services.
The Dems will parlay this dismal reality into a narrow, impotent Congressional control which RW media will easily scapegoat, leading to another red trifecta in 2028.
Yeah it's fucking over and I really think we need to impress on people that this destruction and the huge costs to our wealth, privilege and general ability to do whatever we want wherever we go are all never coming back.
Otherwise people will blame whoever comes after Trump for not fixing it.
Yes. And, most Americans have not even begun to feel it yet.
If Americans thought the price of eggs were their big issue, just wait until June and July when the full force of Trump's destruction of the U.S. economy and the global influence diminishes in real ways.
This seems like doomerism. Plenty of countries have higher standards of living than the USA and they didnβt need to be the global super power to do it.
And Republicans who know better are going along because heβs collected so much power over their political careers. But no one really expects his plans to work, so maybe itβs enough rope for him to figuratively βhang himselfβ and it will break the spell. π€·πΌββοΈ π
It would be great if he was a one man crime wave. But he has a lot of bigoted, racist, misogynistic con men and women backing him up, he has the whole "political party" behind him and millions of gullible followers in crime.
A longshot, but I am calling reps from my state (TX) and encouraging them to sign on. So far: Nathenial Moran, Dan Crenshaw, Jake Ellzy. If we could get a metric butt-ton of other Texans to jam their phonelines with the same we might get somewhere. Same goes for any other state. Any takers?
@stemthebleeding.bsky.social do you have a bill number? One of the staffers actually asked me. A quick duckduckgo search revealed multiple, and I wanted to be sure to get the one that is closer.
I called Al Green's office to see if his impeachment bill was the one in question, and they knew nothing about it. @stemthebleeding.bsky.social could use some help here.

One distinguishing feature perhaps being, that whilst most other countries have many friends the US only has 3
Russia
Belarus
North Korea
Trying to get into a recession state of mind to where I won't buy anything
Go live in a 3rd world country with weak corrupt government and youβll understand really quickly how society works

But my hope is for my grandchildren. They deserve so much better.
Any motion right now would just be killed before it ever got started.
