Maybe CEOs need to be as scared of screwing someone out of their life savings and them reacting violently as we are about not being able to pay our bills and feeding our families. Seems like a good tradeoff when the CEOs are making 50 million a year. A little fear might keep them a little grounded.

Strangely, Jason Statham is my go to for comfort viewing when I'm ill (chronic illness sucks kids, don't do it if you can avoid it!) and I really loved The Wrath of Man. Must have watched it 20 times until The Beekeeper dropped. The politics of that one were interesting.

I think there are a lot of anti-capitalist/anti-authoritarian sentiments in the entertainment we consume. It's true of this film. But also in kids' movies from *A Bug's Tale* to *The Lorax*. Lately, it's made me think that its function is to keep resistance in the realm of fiction, not reality.

Hmm, my take away from these movies is that in their fictional world settings, the justice system has been thoroughly corrupted to the point of being ineffective. Therefore the protagonist has no choice but to seek retribution with their own hands, while understanding it is not the same as justice.

The Beekeeper is militarised but the character is literally written to copy the behaviour of bees. He clings to strong women, he brews his own honey, he does the work and helps look after his "hive."
