Because then they couldn't be purposefully ambiguous about it so that people would assume SG was threatening to recast them. The whole point of this is to put pressure on SG to meet their demands.
While I agree with the cause, the way they are going about it is pretty scummy
I understand SG likely has been advised not to share their reasoning for their frankly deflecting reason (maybe a little ironic considering the character you voice), but I would really appreciate more transparency from them beyond "we have our reasons."
I work in union admin and am aware that it can be tricky to rework existing contracts, especially before they are up, but there's a lot of possible ways this can be resolved. I do hope they are investigating those despite being publicly silent.
Your stance on the matter is 1000% understandable given all the different pressures you’re under. I hope that with the backing of SuperGiant and this community, a deal can be made for union support that can satisfy the needs of everyone involved. 💛🦉
Gotta say, I feel for you, but leading with this might've been better than insinuating they were going to recast you and calling for people to dogpile them
They most likely would need waivers for their production to take people like Darren, Logan, Greg into consideration, which would be brought up in initial negotiation.
SAG-AFTRA has the ability to meet clients where they are at, especially in a vulnerable time for developers for such a special team.
So, just to make sure I'm understanding: SG would need to negotiate exceptions for 19-to-27+ other voice actors and somehow arrange for a perpetual guarantee that this wouldn't require them to hire union for a hypothetical Hades 4? Or even further Hades 2 roles? In order to keep one VA?
Each non-union performer would need a 2-page Taft Hartley form filled out by the client to let the union know they found a non-u actor they liked for the role.
Depending on the actor's location, international and right-to-work rules apply for joining.
But SAG-AFTRA has created an entire new system for game jams and student waivers that would not trigger joining and take into consideration a "no-profit" scenario. We can make something work.
Gotcha. So basically just need to work out a contract that limits the Union terms and conditions to just you so that the people who are primarily SG fulltimers aren’t rounded in. Well I hope you all work something out that makes all parties happy
It's kind of a misleading statement. Supergiant has no intention to recast them, however they have decided to leave if supergiant doesn't sign a union contract which might impact other VA's on the project. Thus if they do leave, supergiant will have to eventually find a new Athena.
has SG tried to get you to agree to work for them anyway, despite you being in the union? that would definitely be crappy of them to do. just trying to understand the sitch better
Marin is Not in the Union and SGG is not trying to recast them. They want to get people to get SGG to join the union so they can access a different healthcare plan

I'm sorry you're going through this.
