Polls are trash to use as a metric is why. Source, sample size, and anonymity along with potential to game results with any of them make polls a crap metric to use that we rely on.

For example, Daily Mail which is trash and has a strong conservative viewership has a poll with 1000 people that has his approval at 54%. A WaPo poll, typically more liberal with 2.2k has him at 42%.

The total between these two would make Trump have a 48% approval rating.
