First cousin marriages are legal in 18 states and DC: Alabama, Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Vermont. Oh, and supposedly Puerto Rico.
I miss when the Onion was funny. Hire new writers. There are so many obvoius jokes you can make with what is going on in the world. Sorry if a writer is reading this.
I may be reading the room incorrectly. However, the way I see it, the maga young white men just raised the level of difficulty 10X when it comes to getting laid. The handmaiden hotties go all in only for the alpha billionaires, celebrities, pro athletes. Everyone else - Not So Much. 👀
An interesting fact about cousins is that they aren't all the same. While a 1st cousin is the closest thing to a sibling, a 2nd or 3rd cousin shares about as much DNA with you as the next stranger you meet. In fact, most folks have never met a 3rd cousin and don't even know what constitutes one.
Me and my husband started comparing family history for the fun of it and found out we ALMOST (last minute engagement break off) became 2nd cousins by marriage about 4 generations ago.
Yeah, that was a close enough call that we decided to stop looking into the family history after that.

Like, first cousin marriages are actually legal in a surprisingly high number of states and second cousin marriages even more so.
"Just because it's legal, doesn't mean people do it" prepare to be surprised and disappointed then.
