The choices are to provide housing and living expenses for these people before paying to fly them all over the world, or simply letting them renew their green cards so they can continue paying their own living expenses and supporting the community by paying sales and income tax. This is so stupid.
"No price tag on deportations" per Trump but universal healthcare is "too expensive." We spend upwards of 10% on our income on healthcare and my MIL spent 33% last year. Didn't even reach her deductible. What a world.
A similar situation in Australia, where successive governments spent $650k a year per person to stop about 30 asylum seekers from entering the country just for the politics of it.
Something confuses me about this and there's probably double think going on. Is she against deporting migrants? Or does she just want to arrest them all in US soil?
Wouldn't surprise me one bit. I once had a customer complain to me about how it was unfair that poor people got special payment programs but she didn't.
This is the reason that @cstross.bsky.social gave for why he slowed down in writing his story about the UK government being taken over by Lovecraftian horrors -- he couldn't think of anything horrific enough that it didn't appear as a government policy before he could write it down.
