My petty gripe: the weather up here is fine, but please stop the inane comments about my height

As a tall woman, I wish the “it’s socially unacceptable to comment on women’s bodies” applied to us more than it does, which is very much not a lot.

Hugely relate – I'm only 6'5", but especially since transitioning, I'm very self-conscious about my height and I could really do without people gawking at me. I never know if it's transphobic or just cause I'm tall!! Either way, stop looking and definitely don't talk to me

Yeah that would be very difficult. The other issue I have is it means I'm not used to acknowledging people I've met before right away when I run into them on the street because I tend to assume people staring are staring because of height.

My daughter has the opposite she's around 5ft and tiny she's 27, first thing everyone says upon meeting her 'my God you are tiny'. Her brothers were arses when they were young and put things up high in the pantry etc. I got her a step ladder 🤣

doesn't happen much anymore but when I was growing up in the country drunk men would try and pick fights with me on the street, not beause I was gay but because I was tall

I swear to god, drunk country men being dicks to me growing up is, like, 80% responsible for my quirks and reservations about people.

Though me being gay was always more of an issue than me being tall.

I did get shit for being skinny though.

Even as a short person, I may now be completely desensitised to commenting or even really noticing tall people after 5 visits to Croatia, a land of giants.

We only really notice it now when someone literally bangs their head on a door frame or light fitting given all the old buildings 😞
