But the real world isn't perfect; We have to choose from the options we have if one would CLEARLY be worse for the world vs. the other. I only confidently say she wouldn't have won no matter what in hindsight. Prior to the election, we knew it would be close, and that every vote mattered. So being a single issue voter/protest voting, in the face of an obvious criminal dictator who will make the world worse, is simply insane to me.

You're claiming to share a lot of deeply important values and goals with the people protesting genocide, but posting "Great work! 🤡" about them when you're fully aware they didn't swing the election really gives the impression that your support for their cause is highly conditional.

It's just really surprising and sad to see "I support their cause, but they weren't protesting in exact way I would have preferred at that time, so they're clowns even though in hindsight it didn't matter" from someone who otherwise posts lots of thoughtful and respectful things.

Seconding this. I held my nose and voted; a lot of us did. We all still had every right to call out the Democratic establishment for blithely supporting genocide/ethnic cleansing.

Notionally supporting a two-state solution while handing bombs to a single state is indefensible.

100% agree with all of this! I'm glad you still voted, and I agree dems should constantly be called out. I always have and always will support protesting for good causes, which this *absolutely* is. My issue is only with refusing to vote when a clear greater evil was and now is the alternative.

Even though I voted, I find it very hard to condemn those who abstained for moral reasons. The lesser evil still paved the way for this greater evil.

To Dr. Labedz's point, I think our anger and frustration needs to remain heaped upon those worthy of it, rather than those who've acted in good faith

It isn't about my preference - it is about understanding a bigger picture and voting in a way the prevents the world from knowingly getting worse. To be clear, I absolutely condemn what has happened in Gaza. I understand that by continuing to supply arms, we played a role in it. 1/2

That is a dark stain on us and I find it difficult to understand why it continued when it became clear what was happening. But even if you thought Harris would continue it, as f***ing awful as it is, Trump is still as bad or worse for Gaza, and that is on top of literally *everything* else.

I understand my original post came off as harsh, but despite it all, I still find it foolish to have refused to vote. The world is terrible and so is the two party system, but that's what we had. We had two choices, and one was still clearly far worse for the world than the other. It is reality.
