It's the greed of and neglect by rich - mainly white-people.

I understand that there are those demonstrating peacefully. The problem is that the media are only reporting on the riots and so all are being tarnished with the same brush. Those rioting are using all manner of excuses to justify their actions, including foreign nations “taking over”

Firstly, most Briton's see the events as riots rather than as protests, overall 74% say they are riots 14% protests and 4% something else. Reform voters are the most likely to describe them as protests (34%).

Looks like an echo chamber there. It seems to talk both of issues genuinely felt and a normalisation among Reform voters of far right actions. Neither should be dismissed, which is hardly an uncommon response to these kinds of metrics.

What do people think the motivation for the riots are? About 23% say legitimate concerns about immigration, around a third say far right ideology and racism, but the biggest group - nearly half say a desire to engage in violence and criminal damage.

Only 14% of the country say that the people participating in the riots speak for people like them - compared to 86% who say they do not. Again Reform voters tend to be outliers here, although a majority still say they do not speak for people like them.

Given a binary on whether or not the rioters are 'standing up for' or 'shaming Britain' 73% say the rioters are shaming Britain and 17% say they are standing up for Britain. Around half of Reform voters say that the rioters are standing up for Britain.

Yes, there are splits on this for other parties but they are much smaller splits, and more importantly,unlike Reform, the other parties appeal to their voters on more issues than just immigration / asylum.

We can think of public opinion divides as binary camps and more akin to Russian dolls, with much smaller groups within larger ones. The smallest are those who share the rioters views reflected in the 7% who say they are ashamed that Britain is a multi ethnic country.

They include 8% who think violent protests outside asylum accommodation can be justified - as well as 11% who have a positive view of Tommy Robinson. They are a clear minority but are also almost twice as likely to post about politics online as average.
