Yes. More engagement there than I have see on here. Which is unfortunate, because I despise Meta. I was told this was a great place to find a bunch of people in the writing community and discuss writing so far I have found you (which is great, but the activity seems oversold to me) :/
Threads was so hostile to me and my posts I had to bail on it. I don't think I've ever had more people telling me to off myself on a daily basis.
But I will say I had lots of engagement.
Actives could just mean logging in on Threads, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger or WhatsApp where Threads content is visible, though. Meta is losing users and is using whatever metrics it can to hide it, according to an analysis I saw.
It feels like that, yes. But it also feels super fake. Everyone is desperate for engagement with posts like "Did you know Dracula was a vampire? I’m shooked!”
I agree with the fake sentiment. I think that’s the natural extension of a black box algorithm. People do want to connect, but they have to somehow divine and appease the algorithm.
I don’t mean it like that. Everyone is free to post to their heart’s content. If you read what I wrote again, you’ll see that I meant many people are posting very basic things—a “Water is wet” kind of thing. It’s an observation.
Nah, I'm done with Facebook and all its Meta-stasized products. Zuckerberg sold our data to Cambridge Analytica a few years ago, and after the 25 million dollar bribe he just dropped, I'm convinced he'll sell his mother for a profit. Or any of us.
I had a really good experience on Threads but left all Meta platforms behind after the recent changes made clear the focus of the company. It felt much more active than Bluesky does.
I stopped using it about a month ago, but at the time it felt quite active. I'd say about as active as Bluesky once you filter out the engagement bait, bots and "is anyone still here" type of posts. Definitely not 10x as active.
Literally hopped over here when I realized there was more original content. Far too much repetition by bots or very pathetic people. But hey, you won’t miss this big meme of the day, it’ll be beaten into your mind by the seemingly endless accounts stealing it, that was my XP
The entire time Threads has existed it has seemed like tje concepts of follows, curation, and unique feeds have been totally nonexistent. Just a writhing mass
It felt like there was more activity, yes. But it also felt like 99% of that activity was engagement farming, and going to your home page is just endless algorithm forced garbage. Like every other post was rage bait. It feels quieter here, yes but that's not a negative in my opinion.
In general, your posts get more traction on Threads, which is odd to me because the UI is fucking garbage. Why is there no pause button on video? It takes more work not to have one.
Is it better on the app? I use browser.
You're starting to get more traction here than the Nazi platform, at least.
Maybe, but that doesn't translate to "better." I liked Threads at first, but it quickly got overrun with garbage toxicity so I deleted it. The quality of posts here is much more in line with my tastes, and the ability to filter what's in your feed(s) is unparalleled.
I recently got on here just to be on a nonZuck platform, but Threads is more enjoyable. There seems to be more activity over there. Probably in part because I've been active there long enough for the algorithm to find my crowd.
Probably! There isn't an algorithm here the way that you know them from other social media - the closest thing is the discover feed, but for the most part you gotta go out and find/friend/interact with people instead of waiting for The Algorithm to bring them to you.
To be more specific, anyone on Instagram or Facebook who accidentally taps one of the IG/FB app's entry points into Threads is for sure going to be counted as an active user.
My experience of it was you post something like "hello" and you get 5 replies saying stuff like "Wow! Funny and Insightful! Would you like connect and talk about your current projects?" from real humanoid people
My Threads felt like a cross between LinkedIn-level BS and people literally begging for engagement/connection, so while it might be more active, the content is vapid compared to here.
I think Threads’ For You algo is better, and the culture of posting engagement bait culture is stronger. But Bluesky feels like the quality of discussion goes a bit deeper. So yes, it feels like it has 10x users to me.
Before I left it behind...yeah, kinda? I actually liked it better. Its algorithm appeared to encourage comments more than one-off joke posts. It did mean some engagement bait, but I quickly learned to block the large accounts doing that. This place feels more like Twitter in a bad way. 1/2

Not personally directed at you.
It always throws me off guard how people are admonished on social media for attempting to be social.
Yes, trolls, bots, bad faith responders, etc etc exist. But I still see it often that people are scolded just for posting.
Due to the coproborus¹ of Insta -> Threads -> FB -> Insta, and the growth of AI slop and engagement farms, most of Threads's metrics are disingenuous.
An unfortunate consequence,

And at the end of the day, all that matters is if the advertisers want to be seen near you. :lolsob: I guess.
