I saw this plaque for the first time yesterday. It’s in Edinburgh’s West End outside 39 Manor Place and commemorates artist Samuel J Peploe who was born there in 1871. That name might be familiar to anyone who has read Alexander McCall Smith’s 44 Scotland Street.
