St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh. #CeilingsOnSunday

St Conan’s Kirk, Loch Awe #stainedglasssunday stconanskirk.org.uk/key-features... The three panels of the Triptych tell a story. The panels are designed to be read from right, left and then the middle. Details in the link.

From the Edinburgh Council Museums Collection, I think this doll would surely freak out any modern child unfortunate enough to be given it.

Whoever took this picture needs to find shelter immediately

Unabashedly shameless double yellow parking in Leith.

I’m not sure I can take too much reality just now.

Edinburgh’s Royal Mile as seen in 1796, was painted by Barker. sourced from the New York Public Library Digital Collections. #Edinburgh #RoyalMile #History #HistoricScotland #OldEdinburgh

Edinburgh-based panel game called I'm Sorry I Haven't Buccleuch

Dug out my passport, checked my vaccinations and headed over to Fife earlier. 🤔 This statue in Lower Largo is of Alexander Selkirk, reputed to be the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe after spending over four years as a castaway in the South Pacific. Nice doors as well.

I saw this plaque for the first time yesterday. It’s in Edinburgh’s West End outside 39 Manor Place and commemorates artist Samuel J Peploe who was born there in 1871. That name might be familiar to anyone who has read Alexander McCall Smith’s 44 Scotland Street.

A typical Edinburgh day at any time of year.

I’ve just seen the new LED Zeppelin documentary. Absolutely recommended for anyone with an interest in classic rock. Possibly of selective appeal, I was 10% of the audience 😂

… meanwhile back in the exciting world of Edinburgh gateposts, at Fettes Court near the bottom of Craigleith Rd, these mark the original entrance into Comely Bank Cemetery. What is it with cemeteries being sold for housing? Were any graves in the area that was sold and what happened to the bodies?

What’s your sign?

Visiting the National Museum of Scotland this took me back to when I stayed in Lochrin Buildings in the 1980s.

Edinburgh V Zebre at HT. Guys when we said it was origin night we didn't mean the amoeba that crawled out of the swamp in prehistoric times

Just noticed this gate today in the wall at the bottom of Morningside Park. Given the size of that tree (and the drop off) it must have been a long time since they were used. It will have been an entrance into the cemetery which was made redundant when part of it was taken to build Balcarres Court.

George St statue of James Clerk Maxwell, the most influential scientist that most people have never heard of. His work introduced the idea of an electromagnetic field. His equations provide a mathematical model for electric, optical, and radio technologies without which you wouldn’t be reading this.
