Worse responses should have EU totally distancing from US:
" just hate bailing Europe out again.”
The user identified as Hegseth responded three minutes later: “VP: I fully share your loathing of European free-loading. It’s PATHETIC.we are only ones ... who can do this. Nobody else even close.
That was disgusting. I've said it before, these people should all go on official PNG lists for every country in Europe. No negotiations, no engagements.
Earlier Monday, Trump told reporters: “I don’t know anything about it. You’re telling me about it for the first time.” He added that The Atlantic was “not much of a magazine.”
So your team fucked up bad but The Atlantic isn't much of a magazine. That's your focus?
YOU are not much of a president.
Very astute and informative. Thank you for this article. I can only hope those involved are held responsible…but they won’t. And I’d love to see a full court press by the Dem’s. But I fear that won’t happen either.
FYI, Sen. Jack Reed responded: “If true, this story represents one of the most egregious failures of operational security and common sense I have ever seen. …The carelessness shown by President Trump’s cabinet is stunning and dangerous. I will be seeking answers from the Administration immediately.”
And Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said on the Senate floor that this is “one of the most stunning breaches of military intelligence I have read about in a very, very long time,” and urged a “full investigation into how this happened, the damage it created and how we can avoid it in the future.”
Here’s a significantly more forceful response and demand from second-term Rep. @jonathanjackson.house.gov, who is a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee:
Asking them to resign? That's what passes as "forceful." JFC at least file Articles of Impeachment and force House Republicans to go on the record that they're ok with what happened. Stern letters posted on social media doesn't constitute him doing his job.
@vermontgmg.bsky.social You may have this in your six points, but why didn’t Trump know about this today? When Goldberg had notified principals of what he had?!
And Post of the Day to @vermontgmg.bsky.social for catching that no one was clear on Trump’s green light for military action, to the point that Stephen Miller - not even in the military chain of command, explained what he thought he heard from Trump. Bombs Away!
This part really illustrates how inhuman these wraiths are and give a hint at how long our descendants will be paying for their greed and short-sightedness
"ask yourself: Is this a government and group of people you’d want to share your own sensitive intelligence with? Is this a government and group of people you’d be willing to share intelligence that put lives of your operatives or agents at risk?"
Even if Dems called for impeachments (AOC did already) or investigations or anything else, it wouldn't happen. The GOP members of Congress won't do anything to hold the GOP accountable, and the DOJ is run by Bondi, who wouldn't allow a special prosecutor.
Yes, the Dems should demand all of that anyway— speak out continually about how Trump is making us less safe. A pattern that goes from defense to intelligence to selling out our allies to closing US Aid to cutting funding for critical research to cutting VA mental health. JFC the list is endless.
It’s true the fixes in. But so what? Democrats still should be talking about this nonstop. God knows the Republicans would. Even if it’s a lost cause. So what? It should be a noun, a verb and this. Over and over again. Make every Republican answer for this shit.
"Only one word for this: FUBAR," Rep. Pat Ryan, D-N.Y., an Army veteran sitting on the House Armed Services Committee, wrote on social media. "If House Republicans won't hold a hearing on how this happened IMMEDIATELY, I'll do it my damn self."
Funny thing about history: small, seemingly inconsequential events often determine the future’s course. The addition of one person to the Signal chat led to the exposure of the extreme incompetence of this administration. It could potentially lead to the beginning of their downfall…
When this story broke I recalled a detailed oral history of the bin Laden raid, including tidbits abt opsec (like staggering motorcades at WH). Now you’ve done two of my fave glimpses into “why you don’t let amateurs run the joint.”
Wow. Excellent article. So glad you wrote down your 6 thoughts! And you’re right, should be the biggest scandal of any presidential administration, but I can feel in my bones that nothing will come of this apart from deny, deflect, and double-down. 🤦♀️
Great post. I agree completely. Yes, where is the outrage from Democrats? The Republicans would never stop talking about this if we did it. And they would be right for once. Remember Benghazi? Hillary‘s emails, etc.? Where are the Dems? They should be howling about this endlessly. Nonstop.
Here's just one of the MANY reactions from Democrats:
"From an operational security perspective, this is the highest level of f**kup imaginable," former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg wrote on X. "These people cannot keep America safe."
"Amateur hour," said Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., on X. "These are the geniuses that are also selling out Ukraine and destroying our alliances all around the world."
Virginia's Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate's intelligence committee, wrote on X that the Trump administration is "playing fast and loose with our nation's most classified info, and it makes all Americans less safe."
Yes, I’m glad to see that they are fighting back and making an issue about this. God knows the Republicans would never stop talking about it if Democrats would’ve fucked up this bad. But of course, we Democrats don’t fuck up this bad.

Trump put the dumbest in each role, and this will keep happening
Isn't that worse?
In this universe, they are now even more dependent on King Trump. He will love it.
And do more pushups than Lloyd Austin
And as always own the libs
Party on Pete
* That we can currently prove in a court of law.
Please add “so far”. It may be hard to imagine, but I’m confident there will be even crazier scenarios.
