I thought the same. In Arizona there was a hazmat situation a couple years ago, because a Tesla caught on fire after backing into a wall and the same Tesla caught on fire again while being transported while in transit.
This is a question worth pondering. All social problems are attributed to immigrants. Statistics show that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than citizens.
They don't take 50,000 gallons of water to put out. And there is a fire inside your engine. There is no fire in electric cars, just a really faulty battery.
combustion engine in a vehicle essentially has a controlled "fire" inside it, so severe neglect by owner can set a fire.
“Hybrid-powered cars were involved in about 3,475 fires per every 100,000 sold. Gasoline-powered cars, about 1,530. Electric vehicles (EVs) saw just 25 fires per 100,000 sold.”
Yea my thoughts at that moment til someone told me it was loaded with fire works. My question is which church supplied the fire works and does the perp go to it 🤷♀️
Police said the car was so well built it actually contained the explosion and directed the damage upwards, preventing damage to the building and bystanders. Sounds like a quality build to me.
This is more or less guaranteed. But, this county is deep red, most of the local cops are surely sympathetic to a dingbat like this. Unless the Feds step in, they won't look for anything.
A judge gave the OK to release him to home confinement, monitored with an ankle bracelet. The D.A. filed a stay of that order, but being a deep MAGA area, he will go free soon. Trump will present him with the Medal of Freedom next month after MAGA, Virginia Governor Youngkin pardons him
That’s exactly why the FBI wasn’t on the case immediately. Before you call in the FBI, you want to be sure it’s a case warranting an FBI investigation. In New Orleans, it very obviously was. In Las Vegas, they had to check if it was just a Tesla being a Tesla (so FBI not needed). 🤔🤷🏼♂️
I don't know what the hell is going on. You go to the gas station and get two or three gallons of gasoline for the lawnmower, and you'd be watching your rear mirror every five seconds, don't hit me.
For only a moment. As soon as I saw where it was parked I felt it was planned.
Having the suspected driver turn out to be a Trumper, not on my bingo card.
I have been expecting attacks from angry Trump supporters and since the election. Report of people saying "OMG what have we done". And getting angry.
I fear it will get worse as more and more people realize they've been played.
That was my first thought. It led to this random thought. If Musk is such a fucking genius how come he hasn't solved the battery runaway issue and 2, how to douse the resulting fires? Answer, he's no genius, just a thief of others work.
My Tesla never started on fire before and I’ve had three. They are actually great cars. I tried others and wanted to like them but nothing compares especially the software and self driving. I just hate Elon now. Actually getting a Florida plate that says “Why Elon”
That’d be me. Then I saw it was in front of a big Trump sign and thought, “How ironic.” Then I saw the incendiary material in the trunk and figured, “Oh boy! Left wing violence really pushes the country right.” Then I heard he was MAGA! Finally I heard he was Army and I got sad.
Hi, and apologies---at first I wasn't sure what your post referred to. But I was trying to pass along solid information about the Tesla driver who died in Las Vegas, while avoiding the bizarre/wildly specious stuff showing up online from less credible sources. Hope that clarifies matters!
UPDATE: The driver/sole occupant shot themself before the explosives went off (evidently on timer). And a well-trained military vet who'd been 'a big Trump supporter', according to those who'd read their online posts. An elaborate way to express final outrage.
Thank you for the update Theo. All of this is so very sad. I simply can't be so heavily invested in any thing that would ultimately precipitate unaliving myself.
I support a lot of things that I don't agree with politically. I live in CA not far from Silicon Valley and work in tech. My co-workers, neighbors, friends, etc. love theirs, too. But there are others that people I know like, as well. Ultimately, we're all supporting someone we don't agree with
somewhere along the line. Honestly, with everything in the truck, it contained it better than anything else probably would have. But the doors locking on people? 😬 yikes!
They really aren't. They have been consistent ranked low year after year when it comes to quality and reliability. Consumer reports has them as one of the least reliable cars on the market. Their biggest problem is that Tesla isn't a "car" company.
Plenty of people are in reliable cars, even people with cars that we consider junk. I personally own a MINI (famous last words) that has none of the common issues that most MINIs have. I also have two costumers with the exactly same year Jeep Grand Cherokee...
One I only ever see for oil changes and the other seems to be in twice a month for something breaking. And it's funny because they aren't very far off milage wide.
They really just don't know how to build a good car yet. They sell a fairly large amount, not because the product is good, but that they have a huge cult following. People believe Musk is some kind of savior.
I have been an auto mechanic for my entire adult life, and I will give Tesla credit for forcing the hand of the entire auto industry to move toward EVs, but nearly every company that does build one, builds it better.
I somehow doubt that you worked on many Teslas. Compare the body/suspension repair of Tesla and, say, Audi, and then tell me again how terrible Tesla is. Lol.
And, on top of all this Tesla, as a manufacturer, are more likely to cause a fatality in an accident than any other. Unfortunately, the product is not great. I have a lot of customers who love their vehicles regardless of it being junk. Cars a very personal...
No I don't but I follow a number of motoring journalists who have universally talked about the decline in quality of Teslas compared to their competition.
I didn't feel mislead. "Catch fire" doesn't NECESSARILY imply arson or "in the path of an existing wildfire". Most of us can infer a headline as being an idiomatic or colloquial phrasing.
You're too kind! 😍
I honestly don't know the line of demarcation between pedant and Mr. Well-Actually, but being single with no known heirs I see 'taking an occasional punch' as both a duty and service.
I swear I'm not high. 😆
Another arguably imprecise headline 😄. Is a recall to x-decathousand owners a secret if it's widely reported?
👉🏼If high-voltage discharge creates heat, shouldn't the overall design reflect this (much like radiators include an overflow reservoir)?
Sincere Q's. Not snark.
Despite it's name the Fuego rarely self combusted though it apparently failed all the crash tests. I literally inherited it's companion model a Renault 18 which never tried to incinerate me.
Elon will for sure at some point, completely self combust after a tantrum or stomping his feet to hard to the floor after Trump tells him.. "No, you can not drive my Melania after work hours" 😱😁🫡
Number of fires per 100000 cars sold is estimated at around 3500 for hybrid vehicles, 1500 for gasoline engine cars and only 25 for fully electric vehicles.

When I first saw this pic I thought it was photoshopped.
I've seen pics of burning Teslas and I've seen pics of that goddamn Trump signage and I thought someone had put them together. Only the other day did I realize it was a legit photo.
Musk continues to torch his company too. At end of 2023, forecasts were for Tesla to deliver 2.2 million vehicles. They actually ended up delivering 1.79 million. Don't let analysts fool you into believing lowered estimates at the end of 2024. Musk is solely responsible for this. #BoycottTesla
From the minute the story broke, and video / photos of the scene were released, I knew there was more to the story. A Tesla exploding in front of Trump International Las Vegas? In a spot at the front entrance where even a cab wouldn't be allowed to park? Yeah, way too many coincidences.
Livelsberger served at the same Army base as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the suspect in a New Orleans New Year's Day truck attack that killed at least 15 people, Denver-based station KMGH reports.
I know a person who served there who is still furious and disgusted that the entire country was handed over to what amounts to a terrorist government, after decades of trying to create a better society there. Hate and misogyny thrives, woman & girls expected to live in closets like they don’t exist.
Hopefully, we remember Trump signed the agreement to Afghan withdrawal, boosting Taliban politically, with no actual plan. We released 5,000 Taliban prisoners. US pullout deadline fell into Biden’s lap. Sadly didn’t go well at all ?plan? Worthless 18 years many US deaths, injuries, trauma, PTSD…
As soon as it happened I knew right away it was a truck stolen by an illegal immigrant in early November. He then voted for Kamala 12 times using 12 different names. Over the next two months he drove from Texas to Las Vegas. Stopping only to rape and murder 26 law abiding patriots. Had to be that.
I just ran out of room. I'm pretty sure he chose his victims who were walking their dogs. That way he could quickly kill them both, eat the dog, and be on his way. Another thing they forgot to mention was that there were NO TRUMP BIBLES found in the cybertruck!
Forget waiting until 10. Post right away on Twitter so it can be shared by all the hundreds of millions of accredited journalists on the greatest source of news on Earth.
I thought some guy in Vagas stole fireworks and they just went off in the heat. I feel bad someone died. We have so much political violence, it's a bad start to 2025.
I'm not sure we can be 100% it wasn't. For all we know this guy was just planning on a big fireworks display and then his rental truck's battery array went up, like so many seem to.
I thought that it was a guy heading home with a boot load of fireworks for a NY celebration and the heat in there has started something off, the guy pulls over to see and BOOM!!
I thought that. Now I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop and hear it was related to New Orleans. Or at least for Trump to claim that, whether there's evidence or not.
I genuinely just made a mental note to give these things a wide berth even when parked. An active bomb didn't cross my mind until the headlines changed.
Yeah it’s not going to get better.. these fucktwats banded together a bunch of unstable zealots. Then screwed them.. they are literally imploding.. the fucking GOP isn’t going to do anything… the “Libs” will have too.. feels like fucking Groundhog Day…been here done this … #fucktrump #fuckpresmusk
We gotta think beyond these two ppl…I posted the other day how Wray was saying we had terrorist on our soil and waiting to strike and here we go…be more vigilant stop putting all the focus on these two idiots…it really could be the difference between life and death.
I also thought it was just tesla being tesla but in fact the guy drove from colorado with incendiary devices intended to blow up to make a point... Instead he caused someone's death and lots of injuries
And this is a good time to remind readers that Trump's hotel in Vegas is one of the only ones without a casino. Why? No one knows, but the Nevada Gaming Commission looks askance at applicants with shady financials and known mob connections.
A hideous car designed by President Musk, that looks like a dumpster, on fire next to a gaudy, gilded Trump sign with a dead American inside it?
I just thought 'yeah that seems about right'.
Personally, I suspect that there could have been more to this story than a Tesla just being a Tesla. Would have to hear details after a forensic investigation. There are ways that a battery can become an explosive as that was illustrated with exploding electronic devices and lithium batteries.
I remember hearing a story of electronic devices with lithium batteres being turned into mini bombs, exploding in people's pockets. The devices had been modified and a chemical agent was involved which made for a more deadly explosion. Would have to hear more about the circumstances.
And I didn't even think it seemed weird that it was at a Trump property since the Venn diagram of people who would visit a Trump property and people who would be seen in a Tesla are basically a circle.
“Researchers at iSeeCars do not attribute the fatality rates to the vehicles sold by each brand in and of themselves, but more to consumer behavior and how customers of each brand operate on the road.”

Too late. Should have listened and opened his eyes years ago. Trumps fraud has been there the whole time.
Dealership “sounds like a reasonable deal. Will you take a AAA battery”?
Both of the recent anti-social acts costing lives were done by 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙣𝙨.
But why let facts ruin your point.

I showed you actual data. I think it’s worth assimilitating.
Especially with the existential threat of climate change, I think we need to move away from ICE vehicles asap.

What typically catches fire is the gasoline engine. Not the batteries.
They beg to differ.

I think Cybertruck is hella ugly, but I think people hate on it as a way of hating Elon.
I personally wouldn’t buy a Cybertruck, but I think people’s level of emotional investment in hating it is weird.
Second thought: It’s a Tesla. That’s what they do, right?
smokescreen
They weren't about to work too hard, neither would I for Elong Musty.

Like nothing before this was a red flag?
And the fact that he could undo years of support in just a few months BEFORE HIS TERM EVEN STARTS.
What a sh show this is/will be.
😆😆
As for runaway, no idea. Build the car with built in AVD fire suppression or stop buying chinese made cars

I bought a Kia EV6, 2024.
I love her ! Best car I've ever driven/owned !
Everyone, stop! 🤣🤣🤣
!

The CEO’s a douche, but the cars are superb.
My wife says the same.
I love my Tesla. Best car I ever owned.
I also read books, listen to music and watch movies made by people I disagree with.
But in a free society, we get to do what we want. It’s a good thing.
I might be the exception, but I’ve never had any issues with my Tesla. I
In 3 years the only service on it has been: 1. Changing windshield wipers; 2. Replacing the air filter; 3. Rotating tires.
Tesla came to my house to do this work. Charged me $112.
Cause I’ve had one for 3 years and it’s awesome.
Before you make up your mind I recommend talking to some of us owners.
Most Tesla drivers I know, and I know many, love their cars and plan to get another.

So, altogether, not surprised.
Teslas are MANY times less likely to burn or explode than a traditional vehicle. Look it up.
Let's not act like MAGA.
Again, don't be MAGA. Facts first.
and again I probably need to point out that is no excuse for what either did
but yeah, probably terror and stuff.
Let's watch the investigation and see where it leads to!
I have a few ideas on that!
After all, someone isn't getting enough attention since Jimmy Carter passed.
I think I'll still give them a wide berth...
Get 'em while they are hot. These deals won't last.
I knew it was more when I saw the video.
Overpriced shitty truck exploding on overpriced shitty building.

And all of its bankruptcies having left thousands of suppliers unpaid!!!
I just thought 'yeah that seems about right'.
A tesla is a poor choice for a car bomb because one's act of terror might be misinterpreted as a routine tesla malfunction.
No one noticed.

It’s not about the car, it’s about the drivers.
Just imagine what he could do to a country.
