Did you know Biden world folks are still trying to argue that Biden could have outperformed Harris? Come on now. ICYMI @saletan.bsky.social looks at the numbers:

Humanity needs to understand the REAL Enemies. Environment, Space objects and Illness. Not each other, but I am losing faith in our ability to become intelligent. We have a death grip on our Ape like traits.
They are thinking that since AGAIN the bros made it clear they're not voting for a woman, and the white folks made it clear their not voting for a POC. That maybe being a white man who people already knew wouldn't have had such a hard time after all, even with the age thing. Not unreasonable
With all the dissatisfaction about inflation, likely neither Biden nor Harris could win. That said, maybe some of those older white voters in PA, WI, and MI would have voted for him, but not Harris. At this point, it doesn’t matter. US voters chose Trump and what happens next is entirely on them.
I think Biden was the right person for the job at the time. While I think he did a very good job as president, the optics of his feebleness doomed him. IMO he should have dropped out at least 1 year before he finally did so under pressure.
Oh pls!
Biden will go down in history books as one of the best presidents in history, but knowing wht we know now, he should have never run for reelection
Proof that the old fucker never watched his debate performance. If ever lack self-awareness to this extreme, I hope my loved ones shoot me in the goddamned face.
Look, I was all-in on Biden - he's been a great political servant to the Democrat party - but after his debate performance, we all knew it was over. The Kamala surge was fun and gave me hope, but there would have been zero hope if it were Biden.
Honestly, most of the post-mortems on the election are ridiculous. The idea that Biden should have stayed in is at least grounded in a historical fact - he was able to beat Trump before. FWIW I agree that he should not have tried to run again, but disinformation would still be a giant problem.
I think it's actually true.. Biden WOULD have outperformed Harris..but still may have lost...the "I'll never vote for a woman" demographic hurt Kamala quite a bit imo...
The question is moot and other then opinions we will never know the truth of this.
Though I think the numbers wouldn't have changed much in either direction.
"5 Calls" is an app that is very easy to use to contact your representatives. You can also go to "5calls.org" in your browser. "I am requesting a forensic audit."
Very, very easy to say that now. It's completely not true and he would have lost by larger margins that Harris. The "loss" in solid Democratic voters was caused by election interference, I strongly believe. The numbers don't add up, and statisticians say results were almost inconceivable.
Please just stop. Why don’t you argue that Trump voters are responsible for reelecting the felon? They know who he is and approve of his racism and cruelty. He hates who they hate. Some were conned. Please quit blaming Biden and Harris.
The media was in the tank for Trump. The gaslighting, the sanewashing, allowing the sonofabitch to lie constantly .... all these post-mortems bashing dems conveniently leave out the role of the media. They are monstrous.
Did you read the same Bulwark article I did? Because in the one I read they blamed neither Biden nor Harris. The data they cite is more complex & the argument they make is far more nuanced than a simple matter of blame.
I wholeheartedly agree. Now that you've clarified.
But the only logical antecedents for the pronoun "they" in your reply to my posting were either Karla B or the writers of the Bulwark article. Because I made no reference to Trump, or to anyone in the GOP.
Exactly. I swear it’s as though some democrats want to divide the party with pitting supporters against others supporters in the same party. Putin and China have messed with the election. As they have done in other countries.. This stupid blame game is exactly what the fascists want.
Water under the bridge. If a productive conversation was needed, it would have been that Kamala would run in 2024 from the very beginning of Joe’s presidency. That ball was dropped. Sexism is also a ridiculously stupid barrier here & why is a crucial question.
Not like the Bulwark helped either candidate so …. There is that. Your Republican not trump but not anyone else support was really effective. Sitting on the fence does it hurt your much ??
that is utter bullshit - Biden's campaign was comatose . . .
Kamala raised a TON of excitement, $$$ donations and huge crowds at her rallies.
she is decent, very smart & eloquent
but apparently a small majority of our country preferred a white, male, lying & mentally impaired narcissist
go figure!
I think if given a longer campaign, she could have pulled it off. The momentum she built in such a short time was phenomenal. A longer campaign would have forced Trump to a 2nd debate, a chance to see Kamala in different forums. She was a magnificent candidate.
IMO: As soon as it was reasonably clear that we were only going to get 1 interest rate cut in ‘24, he should have resigned the presidency, sworn in Harris & let her run as an incumbent. She wouldn’t have had any serious primary challenger.
I don’t care about this anymore. What I do care about is Nancy Pelosi calling from her hospital bed in Luxembourg to make sure that AOC isn’t the chairman of a special committee anymore. That kind of stuff really irks the shit out of me. Democrats need new blood! The old guard needs to let go.
I still blame him and the Democratic partyfor where we are now. He should have stepped aside from the onset. I just pray that we have ideal candidates who will run in 2028.
He should have pulled out in 23 and allowed for a primary. Retconning that Biden could win is crazy. He won in 20 because of covid - the recent indecisiveness of Biden over numerous issues shows he needed to go
I think we’ve heard quite enough from the Biden world folks. It was all over on that debate stage, and likely long before, if any of them care to be honest
neither one of them should have run. that is why we lost. what centrist dem would vote for a san fran attorney? before you respond, get real with yourself. shapiro should have been tapped.
Leave the man alone.
Let it go.
We have bigger problems and these types of articles circulating aren’t helping in the least.
Unless you’re courting the MAGA crowd & want to get some traction on X or Truth Social.
Which I’m starting to believe that this is what you’re hoping for.
This is damaging
Aside from the obvious click-bait rehashing, “outperform” is an inaccurate word choice.
Let’s be real…he could have “been a white dude” for a sadly racist and misogynistic electorate.
If Biden stayed in and lost people would be arguing Harris would have won. In reality, neither of them were going to win. People wanted to vote out the Biden administration who they blamed for their problems, real or imagined.
the Biden administration was blamed for inflation
which was caused by Covid - supply and supply chain problems at least
which Trump both enabled & denied responsibility for
Biden righted the ship w/ great effort
misinfo laid all blame on Biden, citing the 'economy' and immigration
voters bought it
This needs to stop. It’s incorrect. When I was active in the party up until Obama 2012, we ran local and state polling on presidential candidates, and was involved with evaluating the results. Whoever thinks President Biden would have won, they are wrong.
Wow…. I would have voted for him over Trump. With Kamala as VP she would have stepped in if need be. I’d voted for Biden even if he was on life support over trump. I think he’s an amazing President. Even to this day. Saving the steel industry from Japan just this week. Judge appointments.. etc
There are very few in the Democratic Party that think Biden would of done better than Harris and the delusional few who still think that aren't worth listening to.
Nope. He should have bowed out before the Primary. His advisors are slower than he is. Whoever heard of dropping out post-primary? Well, Perot..yeah. I was elated by Kamala's vigor, but it was unfair to put her in such an untenable spot. God only knows the damage 💔 done to young voters.

I'm confused by the lack of recounts, verification or any real audits about those results.
I'm not so sure about that but I am sure that Kamala didn't lose fair and square.

Respect for the many things he accomplished, and he hasn’t gotten sufficient credit for that. But it’s time to move on.
Let it go.

Strike 2: Biden's debate performance
