He was trying to stop an ethnic cleansing by colonizers that were doing the same to other planets. He even warned them ahead of time and they didn't believe he would kick them off the planet. I can't blame him for being decisive
Peter Falk played, um, a fictional version of himself in Wim Wenders' excellent Wings of Desire, where he's literally a former angel! Falk was filming an episode of Columbo in Wenders' film, so it's almost kind of canon 😇
The episode with Johnny Cash as the villain I find interesting. The last scene after busting Cash for murdering two people is the two of them sitting in the car listening to Cash’s music and Columbo says something like ‘Well someone who makes music like this can’t be all that bad’
He went from being a cop to trying to redeem his fascist people. Especially for a functionally immortal person, I don't know that 7 years of not being quite as bad really should count as redemption.
If we rebooted Colombo, though, I'd love to see a female version. My idea is the same sort of bumbling persona, same rumpled trench coat and "one more thing," but...have her played by Kylie Bunbury or Jodie Whittaker or Sonequa Martin Green. I bet all three could really do something special.
You'll give Sisko a pass for (among other things) refusing to give the Founders the cure to a bioweapon Starfleet created to target them specifically, and destroying the habitat of a planet to strongarm the Maquis to stop attacking Cardassian colonies?

Hes like a fae, or an Angel... he just kinda shows up, solves a crime, delivers justice... and vanishes until next time.
People only sort of remember him in the department, coworkers only know one thing... hes a wife guy...
I just want murders of the week, I don't want a big mystery or conspiracy behind, or even a cast of regulars tbh (outside of the main).
