It's true with Shohei, Yamo, Freeman and now Snell that free agents make up a good portion of the lineup. They have signed low cost FA's as well like Muncy, Taylor, Teoscar. But Kersh, Lux, Smith, Mookie (trade) are homers. Yanks had plenty of FA's too
Oh great. The Dodgers really needed to improve. 🙄 When the hell is MLB going to have a salary cap so teams can compete fairly? Championships won by teams with almost unlimited payrolls (Dodgers,Yankees) mean nothing. It’s like the rich kid on the block bragging about having the best & most toys.
Hot take but I think having a team that's as fun to hate right now as the Dodgers is a net good for the game, it gives the sport a clear "bad guy" that everyone wants to see fail. I want a juggernaut that we all equally hate.
MLB still needs a salary cap. Small market teams normally don’t attract big time free agents. In the last 5 season the World Series has been won by teams with the top payrolls
I can't agree more. Coming from a former A's fan far as I'm concerned you need a minimum and maximum payroll. Jon Fisher broke my brain forcing me into the arms of another team. 🤣
Just have have a 5
team league dodgers Phillies Yankees bluejays Mets Red Sox and another league for the rest of the teams this isn't fun this beautiful sport is dying it needs a salary cap and floor
It’s not about what teams are winning the SB, it’s how those teams are built. You can’t be the dodgers or Yankees and just keep paying all of the best players to be on your team. Chiefs are dominating & they drafted Mahomes. Dodgers don’t build young talent. They just buy it.
Up until this passed year, they have developed most of their talent, especially their pitching, they had what 6 starting pitchers down almost all were home grown talent. They pick up dudes 50 cents on the dollar. Freddie and Shohei were the only big free agent signings i believe.
Also, Mahomes takes less money then alot of QB's to make it work for the Chiefs, i have seen people get mad over it saying and think thats cheating as well. Im not mad though im a Chiefs fan as well! lol
I think Yamamoto took less money to play in L.A with Shohei, i could be wrong. Glasnow was hurt and had 0 impact on the post season. They do a combination which is why they are where they are.
As a Giants fan, that picture was taken after he was asked if he wanted to make the start in Game 162 (but held himself out)? I’m happy to be able to dislike him unreservedly now.
I totally agree and am surprised more people aren't saying the same. He could be an extremely volatile pitcher, and there's an easy to see scenario where by year 3 this contract is an albatross.
It’s not about spending, it’s about attitude. Superficial fake fans acting like they’ve been rabid forever, when they are literally the most fair weather fan base in history.
I'm an Englishman that's followed the club through thick and thin since the dreadful 90's. In the time I lived in SoCal I found a knowledgeable fanbase, a city that loves its team. Your lazy stereotyping is not my experience of the LF pavilion, I can assure you. Keep hating, we're not arsed.
I didn't. I hated George Steinbrenner. I live in the Bay Area though and was a die hard A's fan. I never thought someone could kill my love for the A's and yet here we are.
So, I assume the Dodgers will pay him something like $1M this year like they are doing with Ohtani so they can sign more big contracts? Everyone gets a deferred contract...
$182 million for 5 1/3 innings every 5 days, lol. The #Dodgers have way too much money. Also, I miss the days when pitchers were expected to go 7 innings...
Do you know what our rotation was at the end of the season? Literally we were down to 3 starters and some bullpen guys. Yeah we had a ton of injuries but Friedman and Roberts are going to make sure we have the arms needed to win.
Yep, Ricketts family in Chicago have an enormous fan base & have decided that they don't care to spend $, they will just rake it in. Been a Cubs fan my whole life, but I'm not giving them another penny until the Ricketts prove they are trying to win. Period.
I was an Oakland A’s fan, from my earliest baseball memory (circa 1970) up to September 26, 2024. I know all there is to know about cheapskate owners destroying a fan base by stripping good teams for cash and never spending any money to keep a winning team together.
Holy shit, dodgers are simply the bigger fish eating all of the other smaller fish. I will be blown away if anyone steals a WS from them in the next 3 years
Eff the Dodgers. I may be done with baseball. Been a lifelong fan and I’ll always love the game, but their payroll is ridiculous. Like the 🦆…only 2 or 3 other teams can come to the table.
Do the Dodgers just have that much money? Sure seems like they can spend any amount they want to. No wonder I don't really follow baseball anymore. It's a tiered sport where the rich will always be rich & the Ricketts family will always be cheapskates.
I’m sad to see him go. I was hoping he was quirky enough that he’d stay with us and be an underdog. Instead he joined DeathStar. We’re gonna need a lot of luck.
Posey needs to get off his high horse and get aggressive and make a few moves. Losing Snell to the Dodgers is BS. He has no QO and is a high end Ace, which is needed. Him being LH is a benefit to. Posey worried about him not making the final start. Giants ownership are a bunch of hypocrites.
Other teams should just start pocketing their money and only spend on player development for now until the league/players association fix their system. Make the stupidity even more glaringly obvious.
A Giants player is now a Dodger blue? Never thought I would see the day! The Giants hate the Dodgers & of course it’s because they are the best team ever!!! 💙💙💙
Another example of why it's easy to hate teams like the Dodgers and Yankees. I watched many games throughout this past season and postseason, but when it came to the World Series, I completely avoided it.

Obviously anything can happen and the Dodgers choke a lot (lol 2023), but why should any other team get excited when this is stacked in front of them?
At all
😎
What a country!!
team league dodgers Phillies Yankees bluejays Mets Red Sox and another league for the rest of the teams this isn't fun this beautiful sport is dying it needs a salary cap and floor
What’s that, 50 Snell starts?
Man, I hate that team almost as much as I hate the Yankmes.
Also go Dodgers! 💙
Totally dumb!
Money ruins everything
The Dodgers pay Shohei $2/year on the books for 10 years. Gimme a break 🤦🏻♂️
$68M deferred/season
That’s just nonsense
His new contract with the Dodgers includes "some" deferred money, The Athletic confirms.
