TV execs are really the pinheads David Letternan always purported them to be. Very few people, are watching ESPN because he’s on it. And very few, will stop if he wasn’t. They could hire any Syracuse graduate, ( at a reasonable amount of money )& no one will stop watching. They are idiots, aren’t they?
Bronny James being "nepotised" into the NBA is one of the most shameful things I've seen in pro sports. Pro athletes aren't supposed to come from pampered backgrounds where their parents get them onto teams. Pro athletes are supposed to have the required level of ability to play at a certain level.
Are they doing worse than shooting 25%? And are those players being celebrated as something special because they played with their dad? Those 53 and 54 picks will actually have WAY better basketball resumes than Bronny, whose resume is just having "James" on his back. No need to even check.
Here is a hint one of those dudes has been cut, meanwhile Bronny is dropping 30+ in g-league games. Kind of the point of second round picks and the developmental league.
They can't really cut Bronny when he signed a guaranteed contract...you think any other player not called Bronny would still be on a roster shooting 37% in the G League and 25% in the NBA? The fact someone else got cut proves MY point. Bronny would be cut if he wasn't a "James".
Bronny got the contract because he was a James, and was scouted by (checks notes) two sons of Dr. Buss. Who used to work with (checks notes) Jerry West’s son.
Bronny scored 31+ in a game, no one would cut a player with that output as it shows potential which can be developed. He also makes winning plays, plays hard defense and has long reach. He also can finish through contact. No responsible team would cut a player with that.
Bruh shut up. Giannis had his bum ass brothers on the bucks, jokic has Cancar on the nuggets as his Serbian speaking friend taking up a roster spot. I bet you ain't even know that... and Cancar sucks but you out here worried about bronny lol
Exactly...I didn't know about that because no one cared. It wasn't talked about. MY point is Lebron wants praise for playing with his son in the NBA. He want's that to be recognized as something special. Well it would be special IF Bronny was anywhere near NBA level...he's not! 25% FG!
So you're ignorant to other examples of nepotism in the nba and youre mad because you think bron wants praise? 😅 Stephen A's whole existence is about views and clicks, you think he talks about bronny because he's a good nba player or because it gets views? And then people like you fall for the bait.
Meh nepotism exists in all levels of American society. ESPECIALLY in pro sports so I don't think it's such a big deal but I see where you're coming from
Give me some high profile sports examples, a car dealership is a little different than being a pro athlete. Give me some high profile sports examples where the players had as bad a resume at their sport as Bronny does. I'll wait.
Lol you asked and I answered 😂 the question is does Bronny deserve a shot in the NBA? Considering there's been worse players than him like a Patrick Ewing jr in the league then logic would say yes.
This is my problem with LeBron, everything is so calculated. He easily could've called SAS, had some else do it or talk to him in private but he had to make a show out of it. Great player but the drama is unnecessary
“I thought long and hard about it. After my boyfriend pulled his dick out of my mouth, I knew I had to say some stupid shit to cover up I am an Uncle Tom bitch ass mush mouth”.
100% Stephen couldn’t let his boyfriend go anal cuz he shit his pants bigly.
For what LeBron James has done for the league, letting him play with his kid is the LEAST he deserves, and I’m from Cleveland. The man has done nothing but be the perfect role model, man, and basketball player for 20 years carrying the league on his back.
That's not how pro sport works. Pro athletes need to earn their spot on their own. Tell me another pro sport where a Dad has got their son to play with them when their son had no right being there? It doesn't happen because it shouldn't happen.
What about thanassis on the bucks roster? Seems like that’s exactly how it works. He got both his brothers on the team and I think they might have trouble at the YMCA on Saturdays
They are better than Bronny, Bronny is terrible at NBA level. Awful. But that's whataboutism, who said I thought that Giannis situation was OK? The thing is, no one was going "Oh look, 3 brothers playing in the NBA its incredible!", but LBJ wants praise for father and son in the NBA? Nah.
My brother in Christ, that is a direct quote from LeBron. Why would I get slapped for pointing out that man was at them parties? I deadass have my face in my pfp lmao I’m not an anon Mr default.
It’s nepotism, though. I don’t really care for Stephen A that much. He does have a point at the same time. I like LeBron, but it gets kind of annoying hearing that LeBron carried the game for 2 decades, but still doesn’t have as many rings as Kobe. He has as many rings as Steph curry lol.
I’m not sure how it makes a difference when you’re swapping out 12th guys on the roster. It was fine for Giannis to have his brothers on the team, but not LeBron?
The league isn’t where it is today without LeBron James. After Malice at the Palace they needed someone like LeBron and he delivered for the league for decades.
If anything he deserves more than he’s made. He’s made people a lot more money than he’s made himself, and saved the league.
There are only a few guys to each team. I know them all on the teams I follow. He’s taking the place of a guy who deserves to be there and probably doesn’t have a $50 million dollar trust fund. It’s objectively wrong and selfish.
Please. You can't install your unqualified kid into the NBA and then get pissed when people point out he's unqualified. And since when does the League owe favors to Lebron (or any player for that matter).
His kid is more than qualified. He is what? 32nd pick? If you look at his numbers compared with all the picks this year, guess where is he ranked? 32! So they picked someone exactly what the pick number should be. He happens to be a James. So be it!
The whole “I am pleading with Lebron James as a father, went too far.” You can’t publicly plead for a man to do right by his son, as if he isn’t and be surprised when the man confronts you publicly.
This would be the PERFECT time to fire S. A. Smith. That person brings absolutely NOTHING to the table. How did he even get his job? Time for him to go!
I’d be the first to admit that he is not for me. I have zero interest in anything he has to say. But what you just posted on here is completely ridiculous. He ain’t your thing, do what I do… Don’t watch it.
How does Steven A or any of the talking heads have ROI on their contracts? Any drunk at a local sports bar has the same takes, and likely does more research.
Through history, F1, Nascar, and football. Most sons ever are as great as their fathers.
F1 - Schumacher- 7 championships - son out of F1 - 0 championships
Nascar - Dale Earnhart - 7 championships - Dale Earnhart - 0
Football - Howie Long great football player - sons were good but not great
The only time he tried to tell us he can play ball, guess what happens? He fell like a rat. Now he has the audacity to critic the best player in the league. Is a joke and always will be
He is just a joke. His show is full of repeating stuff like cowboys are bad, MJ is number 1, just like his former boss skips. Mouth is his sport. That’s all
Lord knows SAS annoys me to no end but he wasn't wrong in this case. The fact of the matter is that Bronny was selected (even if it was late in the second round) because of his dad and LBJ gotta let Bronny the NBA player prove himself on his own. He's not doing Bronny any favours.
Stephen A Smith is the Trump of sportscasters. A miserable failed athlete who tried to blame his aging legend of a college coach who graciously took him on as a benchwarmer for his lack of talent and playing time
I usually have ESPN on in the background in the mornings and have heard most of this. He hasn’t even really criticized Bronny. He’s been critical of LeBron for putting him in a situation he maybe wasn’t ready for.
I’m generally not a Stephen A fan, but no, he’s not wrong. I think he rants about so many things that people don’t even listen to what he actually says anymore.
And that happens in every corner of business and government…qualifications do not matter any longer…just who you know…as long as it’s not labeled DEI it’s ok to hire an unqualified person to run an entity with 100k employees with zero experience except podcast host🤷🏾♀️
More often than not LeBron makes the right decision. I think this doesn't help Bronny and was kind of a tough guy act. SA talks on TV. SA didn't even say anything crazy. Like go up to the FOX news people that was talking crazy.
Comments
Then I met him and of course he was much bigger than me - looked like he could roll me in 2 seconds if he wanted.
Talking trash on these guys is all fun and games til you meet them in real life you'll get quiet real quick.
Better than this dude this season. Mind you Bronny has only taken 4 shots this season
politics #trump #love #peace
100% Stephen couldn’t let his boyfriend go anal cuz he shit his pants bigly.
He deserves whatever the hell he wants
No he doesn't.
Bronny will be out of the League, as soon as Daddy retires.
This is an example of what's wrong with the NBA. The Employees dictate too much.
Bronny may be a good kid, but an NBA player he is not.
He’s a great example of embracing the responsibility of being a professional athlete.
Why would you do that?
Good grief.
If anything he deserves more than he’s made. He’s made people a lot more money than he’s made himself, and saved the league.
People act like this kid wasn’t getting drafted. He’s exactly the player you put as the 12th man.
