Every time we've had a bold mouse like this it's turned out to be a vole. They don't like peanut butter but we caught them with pieces of pretzels stuck into the peanut butter bait in the traps. Not sure if it's the same for you, but best of luck.

There are some simple bucket style traps that are humane and just dip the little ones when they stand on top.. into the bucket so you can relocate them, etc.

It is pretty important to bring a mouse far from your house before you release it if you're using a live trap. Because they will travel a very long time to get back to a place that they know there is a hole to get into

We went through this over the summer with some field mice (SO cute) that moved into our garage. We were told to move them five miles away to prevent them from finding their way back, so I dropped them off at a nature preserve a bit north of us with a small mountain of seeds and peanut butter :3

In my case, I have actually been letting them go on the far side of a small Forest near my house. There's a major roadway between my house and that. But I don't think they travel all the way through that particular Forest either. I've at least never caught the same mouse twice
