The most fun I've had with games so far this year was just messing around with the Genesis NSO library; even though I had one with a couple dozen plus games as a kid, no one I knew really had the cool latter-day (94-95) releases.
Turns out Crusader of Centy, Ristar and Beyond Oasis are pretty rad!
Played Chrono Trigger and Symphony of the Night for the first time last year. It was awesome! I can only imagine how hard those games must have hit in the 90's
game, movie or series the persons who base their list solely on what is popular at the moment are consistently the worst people to interact to, not an ounce of original toughts
Real talk, do you have any tips on how to better appreciate older games? A lot of the time I play a game older than 2000 or so that I hadn't played before, it can feel really underwhelming compared to its reputation. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I want to like those games more.
Heck, even games I did play back in the day can feel a lot more aged to me than to a lot of other people, during the N64 Top 10 video I constantly felt myself thinking my praise for some of those games (aside from Banjo and Majora's Mask) would have been a lot more tempered.
I guess you should try to remove yourself from your expectations and what you've heard about the game? Like just try to engage with the systems as they exist in the game, not what modern systems are like.
I played the original King's Field (1994) recently, and while there's certainly archaic stuff, the atmosphere, mood, and music were really special and it's become one of my favorites. I could feel how much Demon's Souls and Dark Souls were influenced by it.
Now I was very much alive when both games released but I only just caught up to Freedom Planet those past 2 months and I've only been playing the duology nonstop
I feel so stupid for sleeping on the first one for a decade
(this is a reference to someone commenting on me playing Assassin's Creed valhalla a year after its release. 'why are you still playing it? Isn't it dead?'
Crazy how for some, a game’s relevancy goes out the window if they miss launch date lol
Some of my new favorite games may be found in the distant past, but even just “beginning of the generation” has massive potential that’s easy to ignore :)

But to my knowledge I’m waiting for a rerelease of Chrono Trigger, Xenogears and Xenosaga to finally experience them

That being said, solid advice 🫡
