Whilst in power Jimmy Carter supported several brutal dictatorships, with a long record of human rights abuses, in order to further the interests of the US empire. For some reason liberals (who purport to care about freedom) aren't talking about facts so well known they're on his wikipedia page.

Welcome to the real world.
“We fought the wrong enemy.” - U.S. Military
But for sure his foreign policy is spotty like all US presidents.
or Wikipedia that anyone can write or change.

I'm sure carter did some good things too but we should really be remembering all of someone's life, not just highlights
His key thing was diplomacy, not warmongering.
He was against apartheid, managed to get agreement between Egypt and Israel, and in his 2nd term would have brought in National Health Insurance.
See why media and Republicans hated him?
I dunno man. I'm not gonna agree or disagree. I think there are current events as horrific that I'd rather spend my energy addressing.
Get off the soap box and put your name on a ballot if you're so smart and pure.
Good God I’ve been nauseated by all the purist leftists taking swipes at Carter after his death.
Not a single one of us is innocent. Carter is as close to a living saint as one gets. The US didn’t become a superpower by accident. Doesn’t make it right. But it is what it is. Carter did good.
Ignoring the fact that 1.your claim is wrong anyway and 2.none of those countries are as bad as the US itself, certainly not North Korea or China.
Was he sinless? Of course not.
But, oddly, people sometimes accentuate the positive before the body is cold.
In the eulogy for Zoe, people will do the same.
Reagan gets a lot of credit (blame) for things Carter actually did as well.
Everyone I know is flawed, some more than others but flawed nonetheless.
Imagine being such an angry POS that you go after a guy for not being perfect the DAY after he died because you don't understand cold war electoral politics.
Standards are not perfectionism. Your hyperbole does not accurately represent the view that *genocide is bad* and we should *NEVER*, not ONE TIME be okay with it, nor with those who refuse to fight it.
You people and your purity tests are the reason we can't have nice things.
I get people liked Carter, it doesn't mean he's beyond critism, that sounds a lot like MAGA
FYI this video below is a good starter overview of why Carter was a disastrous monster both domestically and abroad. Don't be fooled by his folksy demeanor - he has a lot of blood on his hands by his own choice.

Y'all need everything to be so pure, so liberal, so pro-Gaza/anti-Israel that you didn't get out and vote for Harris, so now you get Trump.
Thanks for that.
The problem we are facing in the US is that democracy requires perfect information delivered perfectly to people capable of understanding it perfectly, in order for folks to make rational decisions.
There are too many manipulation points. But you know that with Brexit, etc.
You say, to a PhD historian.
It’s cultish
There has never been more will there ever be a PERFECT president or leader!
At least judge both sides equally.
RFK Jr is a perfect example-5% of what he says makes sense, but 95% is lunacy!
Character matters!
My assumption: Zaire? This says multiple, but what are the others, and what are the details about Zaire?
Lot's of world leaders do incredibly shitty things.
Show me those who did half of Carter's good.
If you believe that the Net worth of Carter is anything but positive?
Then your opinion really doesn't matter to me. Fuck off.
Good. You're right - that's what we SHOULD BE. We're not. Stay mad, but not at me. You can take that cup back, and drink it.
Literally anyone who hasn't killed hundreds of thousands of people has done more good than Carter.
Now, kindly, fuck off. Forever.
Be disgusted.
I share a lot of the same critisms of his presidency, but I do think be was a gem of a citizen.
Elon the toss.
Ever come across John Pilger?
How about "Sovereign Individuals" by Rees-Mogg?
Pilger, investigative reporter
Many Americans hate him, wrote about Palestine, Vietnam, indigenous people in Australia. He has been saying for years that the super rich have taken over ...

I wish I was joking but that's America baby

I don't think criticising the act of supplying arms to a mass murderer (who had killed 1 million of his own people already) is a cheap shot.
POTUs aren't omniscient, they ride a tiger. Jimmy was the best rider yet.
Carter comes off looking very good, compared to the above.
A bit like our lot, staying at home and not voting against Brexit.
I think democracy has to be worked at, not armchaired. Otherwise we all end up with oligarchs. Is that what you mean by your question?
No, you don't. In the grossly-unfair, rigged U.S. electoral system, you have the "choice" between a conservative, business-friendly party (the Democrats), and a crazed, neo-fascist personality cult (the Republicans).
You must choose one of these.
Choose.
