Why is Switzerland included @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu @ec.europa.eu ? It stopped desperately needed weapons and ammunition supplies to Ukraine as it was fighting for its very survival. The message is clear: swiss produced weapons are useless in defense against fascist Russia.
Absolutely - this is strategic for two reasons - 1) to reduce reliance upon US weapons and manufacturers to ensure a reliable supply chain and 2) to build positive profitable relationships with reliable partners
The American arms industry will be having a fit at the moment as they will miss out on this opportunity. Given that the EU is proposing a massive increase in spending on hardware across the board. It's a lot of upfront money and money over at least a decade
The military industrial complex will be starved for dollars. No worries, they’re going to furnish arms for one side of the coming American Civil War. Wait, what was I thinking. We’re Capitalist. They will sell to both sides.
If (and it’s a big if) Europe is able to develop a well integrated military industry that can compete with the US, I’d put money on the US starting to moan about it.
The US wants to remove support but keep its influence. Nope. 👎
"The danger of relying too much on the U.S. was highlighted by Trump’s sudden decision to undermine allied Ukraine by halting arms deliveries and intelligence-sharing to pressure Kyiv into accepting peace talks with Russia."
Ouch! That’s goin to hurt. That was the main reason Tangerine Face wanted all NATO countries to pay more into defence, he couldn’t care less about fairness or preparedness.
Of course, they’re not buying from the U.S. That would be like paying for guns, only for the supplier to say, “We’ll send the bullets… but only if you agree to let us get rich in the process.” No one wants to rely on a supplier that treats allies like bargaining chips.
Right decision, unfortunately the US cannot be trusted. US defence systems are also quite overpriced for what they offer. The EU was just buying them for diplomatic reasons.
This is not surprising at all, in light of how the administration and Starlink have approached Ukraine and used the threat of disabling existing US defensive support as attempted leverage in negotiations with Russia. When you can’t rely on defensive tools when you need them most, demand will vanish

What's the point on buying weapons from manufacturers that are aligned with Russia, against our own geopolitical safety ?
Guess they are also hoping that the US arms industry will put pressure on Trump to stop alienating the #EU.
Boycott the traitors

Trump played a card he didn't have:
"The danger of relying too much on the U.S. was highlighted by Trump’s sudden decision to undermine allied Ukraine by halting arms deliveries and intelligence-sharing to pressure Kyiv into accepting peace talks with Russia."
Get your kicks in 2026!!!
If the US cannot be depended on any more, it's arms industry can't either.
Wise decision.
will be plenty of happy customers worldwide left though. eg. russia.
and then there is still the problem with non eu nato countries.
its a big clusterfuck.
Wise choice!
Block it ALL!
