In a win for democracy, a federal court ruled that the government’s human resources office unlawfully exceeded its authority by ordering agencies to fire thousands of probationary federal workers in February.

So it's meaningless. Can't force retiring and if you think OPM and Musk aren't going to continue mass firings, you are kidding yourself. If you don't cut off the head of the snake it will continue to bite.
You are doing a tremendous job, Marc! Keep winning!
Folks, this is a good place to donate it you want super smart lawyers at the ready when Trump does the next illegal thing. I’m not a lawyer, but my giving makes me feel that I’m really DOING something.
Why are there not class action lawsuits being pursued against Musk and his DOGE minions by 1) fired federal employees 2) disrupted federal contractors/grantees for damages in the amount of their losses?
This isn’t changing anything. They are lying and saying that they are rehiring and following the court orders, but nothing is happening. The courts have no power over lawless fascists who control the information.
"Alsup said he didn’t have the power to reinstate employees who were fired and could not bar agencies from dismissing probationary workers in the future. He acknowledged that agency heads can fire probationary employees, though they cannot be directed to do so by OPM, he said."
It is unlawfully, but no one is stopping them. What does it matter if a judge says 'yea, it's unlawful'. We know that, but no one is doing anything about it. That's the problem.
Can they order the people in that human resources department be fired for to recoup some of the cost of the 12 years of severance pay per probationary federal worker fired in February?
Just wondering …

I am glad we fighting in courts. But so far they just have the supreme Court says fuck all of you. I guess we all don't have to follow rule of law anymore. It's cool. I'll raise my kids to be kind. By also fuck most laws.
Inflation is high.
And prices are STILL rising, with Trump’s crazy tariff policy about to take another bite out of your wallet.
And this doesn’t even count the Trump/MAGA budget, which will mean massive cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, veterans benefits, SNAP and unemployment benefits
Thats why theyve fired more mil folks so now the departments are going to go forward with it... I'm pretty sure the email that went out was from dod...
This is great but my worst fear is that the SCOTUS will rule that the President has authority to fire anyone in the executive branch at will and that laws that impinge on that authority are unconstitutional. That will be a disaster for our democracy that we will never recover from.
Billionaires work to cripple the federal agencies that protect us.
The workers they are firing are working for us.
These workers fulfill our laws and regulations. They protect us from the brutality of the ultrarich.
The federal agencies belong to us.
This is what happens when you get a bunch of pansy incels who think they understand what the hell they’re doing but they don’t understand how the fucki*g government works.

This seems to be the BIG ONE that allows Trump to be a true dictator, under the "unitary executive theory".
