WAPO has the same conflict; Bezos has businesses with government contracts and CEOs have a fiduciary duty to their shareholders and employees. Even if the news business wasn't driven by subscriptions and ratings, the conflict is built in.

Excellent analysis and something we all need to consider. Media giants like Disney need to respond to the needs of their shareholders—even if that works counter to maintaining the integrity of news outlets they own. So in essence truth is once again compromised by greed.

Called this! $15M is obviously "only Iger can approve this" money, and from recent ABC history we can see he's not that interested in real journalism - at least not $15M worth. It had to be for other reasons...
