Led by Leif Erikson...son of Erik the Red. There was a settlement in Vinland (Newfoundland - L'Anse aux Meadows) about 500 years before Columbus bumbled his way to North America. He didn't spend long there but remains of the settlement still exist to this day. Vikings knew how to build a shelter!
