A couple of comments abt Trump's IG massacre.
First, as WaPo notes, Trump hired many of these people. A good chunk of Trump's fight against The Deep State is actually an attempt to disavow his own past choices.

None.
Trump is Rizzo with a larger constituency.
How many laws does he care about?
You've heard of Scarfo?
How many laws does he care about?
How many judges/politicians/cops are in their pockets?

It's much more dangerous than disavowing past choices.
This is significant for a number of reasons, not least that Chuck Grassley SHOULD be the loudest Senator criticizing these firings. But Horowitz is the one his Committee oversees.

Horowitz has also long been a leader among the IGs (for example ensuring there'd be IGs for COVID relief). The fired IGs may have standing to challenge their firing. Horowitz would not.
He also did two reports in last year dinging Barr's DOJ for politicized leaks.

One route to combat this, then, is to get Veterans groups pushing back.
