That’s great news, she’s awesome. Also thanks for not using the “first openly transgender” phrasing. (Although that phrase must blow bigots minds, as it implies there’s already been trans people out there going about their lives for years)

Can I ask why you don’t like the “openly” phrasing? To me it appears to highlight the fact that many 2SLGBTQ people stay closeted in workplaces or politics out of fear of retribution from their peers for being queer, which feels important to acknowledge.
Happy to consider other perspectives on this!
