Fair, but Twitter was such a crowded place I feel like this shift gives those of us without a following to get more opportunities to make new connections. In three days on Bluesky, I feel like Iβm interacting way more with developers I admire than I was over 8 years on Twitter π€·π»ββοΈ
Same handle here as Twitter. Back in the day it took Twitter a while to develop. The problem I see is that people are slow to abandon Twitter even if they are here and posting too. I'll start checking more often.
I feel the same way, but I've built this app to help with this issue. Planning to open it up to a few people for a closed beta by the end of the month.
Happy to add you to this list if you're interested! π
I feel that. Iβm doing so with trepidation, but Iβm giving it a try. Though, I think you have a REALLY strong email list which is worth more in some ways
Yes I understand. On the upside, this one doesn't have a moat. You own your data and can move it. The platform is also open source. There is some assurance in both of those things.
I had the reservations so I finally let Twitter go. It's painful to leave behind a quarter million followers but I'm ready to rebuild under my own handle and soon hosting my own data.
Hopefully this means never having to start over again.
I get it, you are talking about the people and the community, not just about the content, I do agree, the most important part about a social network is the people.
The same reason I follow you on all my networks π
I dropped Twitter/X soon after Musk took over, popped in to have a look now and then and each time it was actual, no-joke Nazi crap promoted into my feed. Donβt understand how people whoβve stayed can stand it. Now bouncing between Mastodon (deep nerds) Threads(left leaning non-nerds) and Bluesky(?)
Yeah... there's still some people there that I like following (particularly certain artists who don't have much of a presence elsewhere), but the feed itself is actual trash

I feel like I have about 7 horcruxes right now
Bsky is the closest to an βopen webβ social network which gives me hope itβll be more resilient than others
Happy to add you to this list if you're interested! π

Thanks for this push on the old network

I miss when more people had a website.
Hopefully this means never having to start over again.
I've been leaning WAY more into my blog and figuring out how to, like you said, host everything on my own from now on.
The same reason I follow you on all my networks π
It's a simple TXT record in your DNS zone. And it changes everything
