The thing about human anatomy is is that human beings are such a complex species that we cannot be put into boxes. Real life men have child bearing hips just as real life women can have beards. Do whatever you want! The body is just for us to decorate after all :)
They are secondary sex characteristics, which exist on a sliding scale since everyone has different levels of estrogen, testosterone, and other factors.
Sex isn’t nearly as cut and dry as it’s treated in high school biology, it honestly feels kinda misleading how it’s taught in the U.S at least
Also most actual biology majors will tell you that the pelvis isn’t really a good way to tell if someone was born one sex or another anyway. Some men got big ol booties on em and vice versa
The male pelvis to female pelvis ratio is useful only when two conditions are men. firstly, you must be able to make several other measurements. as by itself the ratio means absolutely nothing
secondly, stuff like that is virtually only useful for ancient grave sites or missing persons. other than that, no one who actually knows how those data sets work would use it for hardly anything else
I say this all for anyone who was curious about why those sets exist!
Anatomy like this is a basis that you can deviate from, its just an average and if you look at real life people youll find they arent following it to a T either
As long as you're just DRAWING that man and not building one. I would love to see that! LOL "Child bearing hips!" OMG. Thank you for the biggest laugh I've had all day!😂😆🤣
when i was younger i was told all male characters shuld have wide shoulders and female ones can only have tiny shoulders and shit. now i give everyone wide shoulders cuz what. the references they showed as an example were like. "heres an adult man. and here is the shoulders of a 5 year old"
(Seriously, though, there's a tendency to assume bodies fit a very particular and rigid binary with that kind of stuff. That's not how people actually work lol.)
Isn't it like impossible to make a set of rules that propperly diffrentiates which hips are male and which are female? Because of the overlap in the bell curves
Real, I fear
Men and women are functionally the same while I'm drawing, I don't care about specific anatomy
give more men childbearing hips, defy the system
The dumb thing is that in reality, there are always variations. In fact, often the "average" that is shown is a mathematical amalgamation. It's a statistic, not a reality. Some men do naturally have wider hips. Some women do have narrower hips. There's room for all kinds of variations!
As a man with curvy, child-bearing hips that can comfortably house quadruplets of linebacker proportion during gestation, I endorse this. We are severely underrepresented in the arts. Bravo!
the weird thing is, i literally cannot draw men without adding the childbearing hips by accident, but then when i draw women that's the one thing they're missing.
i remember watching the office and i don remember but two characters were asking toby "do gay people have childbearing organs" or something along the lines of that and this reminded me of that
there's a hentai artist named Drachef who is so completely unable to draw men, he tries to do a muscular or slim torso but then gives them Chun-Li thighs, breedable waistline and hips, and makes them more caked up than Lizzo.
Yeah right! I also hate it when people are like „but men can‘t have big hips“ like, I’ve SEEN dudes, just because your man is super muscular and hairy doesn’t mean every dude is, there are dudes that can rock dresses (saying it bc I had someone like that irl)

DRAW THEM NAKED

????? make it make sense, me
There is a big difference between artistic and biological teaching on human anatomy:
Art teachers will ask you to go to the general measures.
A biology teacher will explain you why cesary was created and why some skeletons cannot be tell apart (sex).
So yes, do it 💫
