Forcing myself to join the local Parent Carer network helped.
The limited number of new friendships I’ve made have been due to trusting my autdar, which has been in play in the background all my life.
Services requiring diagnoses for access are a nightmare.
Same applies for all other disabilities & needs, not just autism.
Your child will still be judged against NT standards with regards development.
Even if you realise you’re autistic off the back of your child’s assessment, you’ve still got to fight if you want your own assessment.
When my kid hit crisis at 13, I naively thought if I applied myself to the challenge; researched; made calls; filled in forms; asked questions that we’d get appropriate, timely help
