His company owns car factories in the US and EU that get parts from China.
Tesla also owns a factory in China that would be dead in the water if Chinese consumers were to shy away from US branded products.
He has a lot to lose from the tariff war.
That said, as I believe you agree, the tariffs are simply insane as a policy matter.
This does not require much thought.
Musk is not right because he thought of zero tariffs. He merely adopted decades of wisdom derived by economists.
This is what moves the country right. We look at the most mundane thing some asshole does, and move to make a saint of him. Or her.
Musk is assuredly not.
But when your adversary has a point, concede the point and welcome the agreement.
