True, and it's a stupid argument. Each individual could say, I'll pay for my own police officer, my own teacher, my own bus, my own street lamp, the water pipe to my house (but not from the reservoir??). We are community or we are nothing.
My mother was a lifelong conservative & always voted Republican. When I was about 12, I asked her why people without kids have to pay to support public schools. She said it's because everybody benefits from having an educated population.
Here are bigger questions. Why is musk getting a contract to sell DOS defective vehicles that can’t even drive in rough conditions? Why are we paying for the orange turd to go golfing? Why are we paying for hegseths nepo brother? We all have a list.
Only PBS puts airs programs like The Mine Wars, or The Ludlow Massacre, on American Experience, highlighting the difficulties of being a coal miner in the United States. The world would never know of Harlan County, Kentucky, if not for PBS. The story of U.S. coal miners has been told by PBS.
I mean you don't even need to ask those other questions. They absolutely should pay for PBS because that service provides educational and enriching programming for them and their children, usually leagues ahead of anything from paid programming.
That is certainly rather condescending to coal miners whose kids might enjoy and benefit from Sesame Street, etc. etc. etc. And perhaps the coal miners themselves enjoy great mysteries. Perhaps they wish to learn more about the world from the National Geographic specials. Etc. etc. etc..
He actually asked why coal miners should pay for PBS? WTF? Is he saying that their children aren't worth Sesame Street? That they are too stupid to understand Nova? How f***ing demeaning!
Are coal miners stuck down there 24/7? Do they not have kids? Who does he think watches PBS? I spent 20 years of my adult life as part of the poor working class and I've always liked PBS documentaries (especially when my only access to entertainment were bunny ears and a library card).
Your questions have been fully answered 40 years ago. Trump is a psychopath. He lives in his own reality and only cares about himself. He’ll only care about YOU if you give him something— cash, influence, adoration, slavish adulation— your choice.🤷🏻♂️🚩🚩🚩
Decency would be great, but the bottom line is that it is their job to serve the American people. ALL of the American people. It is NOT their job to pander to wealth, dictatorial despots, or to pillage our public services with lies in order to increase their own personal wealth.

90 good for kids, 10 IDK or decline to answer or too woke.
I'd say a coal miner might find a bit of enjoyment from PBS programming.
