Separately, but related, creative screenwriting opportunity got knocked on the head this week - eliminated as a non EU citizen. Plenty of UK attendees on the zoom were equally sickened. European collaboration is stifled, just leaving the shame and irritation of the egghead decision.

The easy solution is to comply. The new requirements are not unreasnable and have been under political scrutiny. However not by UK politicians. Will the Stormont maybe brake be pulled?

They are unreasonably expensive for small business - having an agent in the eu is prohibitively expensive - not selling to NI is complicated - many many small businesses are questioning how they can move forward. Global Britain now means I can sell only to England, Scotland & Wales

I do not know the costs, but I do know that representation in the EU is a service which you can buy from specialised companies.
In any case, life with regulations is not funny as an SME. I think a key thing is to only sell a limited number of different items. That way, there is less regulation.

The article needs updated. We do have an NI Executive again. I heard from some GB small (one-person) craft businesses and artists that they can't be selling to NI anymore, because of the costs. The UK goverment should support those businesses by providing a compliance person here in NI.

The gift that keeps on giving, many SME's will no longer export to the EU & NI. GPSR requires a responsible person in NI & EU along with other requirements which come at a cost for each product. ... which are the only two workable ways to ensure NI is economically undifferentiatable from GB. You cannot legally have no border checks between UK and IRL (either at the NI / IRL border or at the ferry ports) while the UK has different customs arrangements to the EU.

Exactly this, unfortunately the new Uk government seem to be in denial about Brexit, and the ongoing damage it is doing to the UK economy. Information about these new changes has been very sketchy here at best , even from sales platforms for small sellers like EBay, Etsy & small sellers on Amazon .

I sell mainly Vintage & collectable items and it would be impossible to give Manufacturer details for items made over 60 - 80 years ago.

Yes, I have not checked the details, but it seems there are options in that area. If the products are outside the scope of GPSR then also other requirements like having a representative in the EU does not apply. But understanding the scope is crucial.
