Help please - it looks like I'll be unexpectedly teaching undergrad social cognition this spring. Anyone have any favorite textbooks, readings, activities? Links to syllabi?

If you’re interested in a guest lecture on autism, a great postdoc in my lab is interested in guest lecture opportunities! Just let me know and I can connect you!
I love Goffman's "Presentation of Self..."
Recognizing the social aspects of culture is my vibe. :)
(And, before 'vibe', I would have said 'groove' lol)
oooohhh -- maybe do a conversation round robin in class and have them analyze sentiment, etc. That could be like a 2 week unit on how to analyze social content in language. Give me a holler if you wanna chat!
I was about to suggest Moskowitz's book, too, because it's most up-to-date (published earlier this year) and, perhaps more importantly, it discusses some issues that Lisa is interested in, such as misinformation and political polarization.
kinda crazy you had to teach a new class that starts in a week or so... i would go with this textbook for sure. i'm sure Moskowitz would be willing to share slides/ syllabus with you given the circumstances
Also found this syllabus on social cog from the other Fazio hahaha (I'm teaching Attitudes & Social Cog grad seminar next Fall so I'm procrastinating right now instead of doing proofs...) https://www.asc.ohio-state.edu/psychology/fazio/courses.php
haha, my first call this morning - I got his most recent version this morning (I'll send it to you). I was hoping he taught an undergrad social cog course but nooo, only attitudes at the ug level
Speech language pathologists work with people who have pragmatic disorders (now referred to as cognitive communication disorders) but it may give you some interesting insights to the topic. Happy teaching
There are plenty of film examples to play with that often escape notice.
‘Psych’, ‘Monk’, Sherlock Holmes is a pretty obvious one. The new ‘High Potential’. NIH Study ‘Social cognitive impairment and autism: what are we trying to explain?’
